Job Description

Are you comfortable taking the lead during major incidents, bringing people together and driving improvements that make operations stronger over time?

We are looking for an experienced Service Reliability Engineer to strengthen our service operations. This is a role for someone who combines operational experience with strong leadership and coordination skills.

You will take a leading role during major incidents, work across teams and functions to ensure effective service operations, and drive improvements that increase reliability, efficiency and service quality.

You don't need to be the person with all the technical answers. You do need to be comfortable stepping forward, creating structure and clarity, asking the right questions and getting the right people working together.

About the Role

A key part of your role will be leading during major incidents. As Incident Commander, you will coordinate teams and stakeholders to restore services as quickly and effectively as possible.

You will also help strengthen our day-to-day service operations, driving improvements that make our services more reliable, efficient and scalable. As part of the role, you will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support the reliability and availability of our production services.

Your Impact

  • Coordinate and prioritise operational activities across teams and stakeholders.
  • Lead major incidents as Incident Commander, ensuring clear communication and effective coordination.
  • Drive root cause analysis, problem management and follow-up after incidents.
  • Ensure incident management, problem management and continuous improvement processes are established and followed.
  • Identify and escalate operational risks, dependencies and impediments.
  • Drive improvements in operational processes, tools and ways of working.
  • Follow operational performance and contribute to achieving service levels and quality KPIs, including resolution times and Mean Time to Recovery.
  • Create alignment between engineering teams, service operations, management and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead improvement initiatives and projects that make our operations more efficient, scalable and reliable.
  • Contribute hands-on to operational and coordination activities when needed.

The role involves significant collaboration across organisational boundaries. You will lead primarily through influence rather than formal authority, making communication, structure, relationship-building and the ability to create momentum essential.

What We're Looking For

  • You have experience from IT operations, service operations, technical support, SRE, DevOps or a similar operational environment and understand what it takes to run business-critical services.
  • Hands-on experience in IT support or operations.
  • Experience leading or coordinating major incidents in a technically complex environment.
  • The ability to stay structured and communicate clearly when priorities change and pressure is high.
  • Experience working with incident, problem and continuous improvement processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working across teams and organisational boundaries.
  • The ability to lead and influence without formal authority.
  • A proactive mindset and a strong drive to turn operational experience into concrete improvements.
  • Experience with ITIL principles and practices.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT, business or equivalent practical experience.

It would be a plus if you have

  • Experience working with demanding external customers, service-level commitments and complex stakeholder environments.
