Position Overview:

Fort McKay, AB | 7x7 Rotational Shift

At Finning, we help our customers keep their equipment working safely, efficiently, and reliably. As our operations continue to grow, we are looking for a highly organized and customer-focused Service Planner to join our team in Fort McKay.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys coordinating projects, managing schedules, working with multiple stakeholders, and ensuring equipment is delivered on time and to the highest standard.

Job Description:

What You'll Do

As a Service Planner, you'll play a key role in coordinating equipment repairs, rebuilds, inspections, and delivery schedules. You'll work closely with operations, technical teams, parts personnel, warranty teams, and customers to keep projects moving efficiently from start to finish.

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain detailed work schedules for equipment projects.
  • Coordinate labour, parts, resources, and timelines.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential delays before they occur.
  • Track key milestones and ensure projects remain on schedule.

Project Coordination

  • Review work scopes before execution begins to ensure requirements are clearly defined.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure jobs are planned effectively.
  • Support smooth communication between departments and stakeholders.
  • Track action items and project deliverables.

Warranty Administration

  • Identify warranty opportunities on equipment repairs and rebuilds.
  • Prepare and coordinate warranty submissions.
  • Ensure supporting documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Help maximize warranty recovery and reduce processing delays.

Customer Support

  • Serve as a key point of contact for customers throughout the planning and execution process.
  • Provide updates on project status, timelines, and completion targets.
  • Build strong relationships through proactive communication and service excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in service planning, maintenance planning, project coordination, scheduling, or a related role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy equipment, mining equipment, construction equipment, or industrial operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with service management systems, scheduling software, or warranty administration is considered an asset.
