Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards) required
Located just outside Stroud town centre in Gloucestershire, The Lighthouse is a welcoming 5-bedded residential home supporting young females aged 13–18 who are experiencing mental health difficulties. With excellent transport links, including a local bus station, train station, and just a 10-minute walk from the town centre, The Lighthouse provides a supportive and nurturing environment where young people can thrive.
What you'll be doing
As Registered Manager, you will have full responsibility for the leadership, development, and day-to-day management of the residential children’s home. You will ensure that children receive outstanding care in a safe, nurturing environment, enabling them to make progress in all aspects of their lives. You will work closely with a highly supportive senior leadership team and play a key role in shaping the service's culture, achievements, and success.
You will be expected to:
- Lead on the day-to-day operations of the children’s home
- Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Home Regulations 2015
- Create a positive, child-centred, trauma-informed and therapeutic culture within the home
- Lead, develop, and support the staff team
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children
- Ensure high-quality care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies are in place and effectively implemented
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities and external professionals
- Ensure positive outcomes for children across education, independence and wellbeing
- Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, achieving ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ outcomes
- Support an effective team through recruitment, staff development, and team retention

- Previous experience within children’s residential care at management or deputy level
- Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding practices
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Passionate about therapeutic and trauma-informed care
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Child-focused, resilient, and values-driven approach
