Short Description

Assumes responsibility and accountability for the coordination and implementation of patient care services within the Operating Room at the direction of the Clinical Director and Clinical Director:

  • Coordinates the daily activities of the assigned specialty service(s) in the Operating Room
  • Develops and monitors efficient daily workflows for assigned service lines
  • Coordinates resources to support the patient care team to meet the needs of the customers and to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Ensures the delivery of patient care through the coordination of customer/vendor services and service lines management within the Operating Room.
  • Coordinating interdepartmental and ancillary activities to ensure quality, cost-effective patient care, ensure efficient workflow, TOT, and on time starts
  • Monitor daily case progression and proactively identify and resolve operational barriers in conjunction with the ACD.
  • Assist with collection of patient satisfaction data and review of key performance indicators
  • Act as a subject matter resource for specialties
  • Support appropriate vendor access and compliance with organizational and credentialing requirements in conjunction with Materials Management
  • Preparation and maintenance of resources to provide care within the Operating Room clinical setting ensuring that the required case equipment, instrumentation, implants, and supplies are available prior to procedures.
  • Acts as a CST when needed to support staffing
  • Supports the OR Leadership team in ensuring that the staff participates in educational activities and the evaluation process to enhance their personal growth and development.
  • Assist in orientation and training of staff.

The Cooper Surgery Center at Moorestown is a modern outpatient facility with six operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and an interventional radiology suite. Patients receive seamless care from pre-operative assessment through recovery, supported by a skilled surgical team and advanced technology. Specialties include general, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, vascular, and other minimally invasive procedures designed for faster recovery and greater comfort. Care goals are designed to reduce pain, limit complications, and help patients return to normal activity sooner.

Experience Required

A minimum of 5 years of experience as an OR Certified Surgical Technologist.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Education Requirements

Graduate of a nationally or regionally accredited educational program for Surgical Technologists; OR

Successful completion of an appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United Dates Public Health Service Commissioned Corps;

OR

Equivalent experience – this applies to individuals that have been employed (as outlined in the Experience section below) as a Surgical Technologists prior to the effective date of NJSA 26:2H – 12.62 (i.e. 12/11/2011).

License/Certification Requirements

Certified Surgical Technologist Credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or its successor, or other nationally recognized credentialing organization (e.g. NCCT – National Center for Competency Testing, etc.)

Special Requirements

Must annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a Surgical Technologist in NJ.
