Job Description

Launch Your Career as a Service Engineer in Automation & Process Solutions

Are you looking for a kick-start to your professional career? Join us as a Service Engineer and play a key role in supporting and growing our Automation business. In this position, you will work with advanced QCS (Quality Control Systems) and AMP (Analyzer & Measurement Products) installations, helping customers improve reliability and performance across their operations. You will gain hands-on experience in installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support while working closely with experienced engineers. If you enjoy automation technology, solving technical challenges, and building strong customer relationships, this is an exciting opportunity to grow your expertise in the pulp and paper industry.

Your responsibilities

  • You will install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot QCS and AMP systems at customer sites, ensuring reliable operation and customer satisfaction.
  • You will act as the primary customer contact, build strong relationships, identify support, training, and upgrade opportunities, and proactively follow up on installed equipment.
  • You will deliver preventive and reactive service activities, provide on-call support when required, and ensure service work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • You will collaborate with sales and service teams to identify lifecycle upgrade opportunities, support project execution, and contribute to service growth across the region.
  • You will maintain accurate service records, prepare monthly reports, share knowledge with colleagues, and support continuous improvement initiatives at customer sites.

Expectations for you

  • You have a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Control Engineering, or Pulp & Paper Engineering.
  • You have up to 3 years of relevant experience; experience with QCS and AMP systems is considered an advantage.
  • You have working proficiency in English and strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • You are organized, self-disciplined, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a customer-focused environment.
  • This role requires regular travel and extended periods working at customer sites, with participation in on-call support when needed.

To succeed in this role

Success in this role comes from building strong technical knowledge of QCS, AMP, and automation systems while delivering excellent service to customers. You will need to work independently, solve day-to-day technical issues, communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, and continuously develop your product expertise. A proactive mindset, strong customer focus, and commitment to safe working practices are essential.

We also expect you to align with Valmet’s Leadership Principles—practical behaviors that guide how we lead, collaborate, and succeed together:

  • Take accountability – Act with ownership, set clear expectations, and follow through
  • Lead with courage – Champion change, try bold ideas, and learn quickly
  • Build on trust – Listen to understand, be open, and create psychological safety
  • Collaborate for growth – Work across boundaries, value diverse perspectives, and focus on customer value

We offer

You will join a team responsible for supporting customers with automation solutions, maintenance services, system upgrades, and technical expertise for QCS and AMP applications. The team works closely with customers throughout the equipment lifecycle, helping improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. You will have opportunities to learn from experienced professionals, participate in customer projects, and develop your technical and service capabilities in a highly specialized industry. Working alongside service, sales, and project teams, you will contribute directly to customer success and long-term business growth.

Valmet offers an inspiring and challenging position with excellent opportunities for professional development. You will work in an international, team-oriented environment with modern tools, continuous learning opportunities, and the chance to contribute to sustainable industrial solutions.
