Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology solutions include atomic force microscopy instrumentation (AFM) and non-contact nanometer resolution solution topography through white light interferometry and stylus profilometry. In addition, the division manufacturers and markets automated X-ray metrology, automated AFM defect-detection and photomask repair and cleaning equipment for semiconductor process control.

Responsibilities

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Install and qualify BNSM standard and specialized instrument, upgrade, and/or accessory including but not limited to:
    • Uncrating instrumentation and interconnection of sub-components and assemblies
    • Instrument start-up and troubleshooting
    • Qualification of instrument and accessories using standard and agreed to non-standard samples.
  • Work directly with customers to diagnose BNSM instrument issues including but not limited to
    • Providing operation training, basic application training and higher-level application training
    • Diagnose, research, test, develop, optimize, communicate, and execute the most efficient solution plan for complex electro mechanical hardware/software
    • instrument issues.
    • Create and maintain record of activity in support database
  • Preventative maintenance on BNSM instrumentation which can include but not limited to:
    • Basic maintenance and calibration of instrument and accessories
    • Re-certification of system using both standard and non-standard samples.
  • Providing our value including service contract and upgrade for the customers
    • Rapid response to the customer through Customer Care Center activities
    • Solution advisor based on professional technical skills and soft skills
    • Promoting service contract and upgrade of instruments to utilize their BNSM instruments at full capability and at peak performance

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you will possess:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven excellent analytical capability, theoretical understanding of Surface Analysis and Tribology, experience of atomic microscope / nano-indenter, working knowledge of electronics and mechanics, computers, and common tooling such as oscilloscope, multi-meter, etc… to be an effective problem solver of complex system, product user, and/or application issues.
  • Proven ability to install, qualify and be an application trainer and technical resource that empowers our customers in the use of complex electro-mechanical instrumentation and application modules.
  • Proven ability to experiment, trouble shooting, optimize, and develop best practice for support.
  • Proven ability to provide clear, logical, and effective communication with customer.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of doctorate degree, PhD, in scientific or engineering field from accredited university or college
  • Or master’s degree in scientific or engineering field from accredited university or college with 3 year relevant experience,
  • Or bachelor’s degree in scientific or engineering field from accredited university or college with 5 year relevant experience
