Service Delivery Manager-268393

UGL Transport is a vertically integrated transport and rail business owned in a 50/50 joint venture with UGL Pty Ltd and the Sojitz Corporation. UGL Transport designs, manufactures and maintains rolling stock and rail infrastructure, operates and maintains transport networks, and designs, delivers, and operates train systems and critical communications. With a legacy of over 125 years beginning in Newcastle, UGL Transport has sites and businesses across Australia and New Zealand.

About the Project:
Join UGL’s Manufacturing and Maintenance division as we embark on the landmark New Intercity Fleet (NIF) project. This initiative will revolutionize train services for customers traveling from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains, and the South Coast. This role is located at our Mariyung Maintenance Facility in Kangy Angy.

About Your Role:
As a Service Delivery Manager, you will provide leadership, coaching and operational oversight to a team of maintainers, creating a positive, high-performing and safety-focused culture.

This is an opportunity to combine people leadership with operational excellence, driving continuous improvement while ensuring maintenance outcomes meet customer, safety and project expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a strong safety culture aligned with UGL's One HSE Culture framework.

  • Empowering, mentoring and developing team members to achieve maintenance and operational objectives.

  • Ensuring train availability and reliability targets are achieved through effective planning and execution.

  • Monitoring maintenance performance and proactively managing operational risks.

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives through Lean principles and innovative ways of working.

  • Building collaborative relationships with operational teams, customers and project stakeholders.

  • Managing team performance, career development, succession planning and capability growth.

  • Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, policies, procedures and reporting standards.

About You:
We're looking for a people-focused leader who enjoys developing teams, solving problems and creating positive operational outcomes.

You may come from rail, automotive, defence, manufacturing, heavy industry or another safety-critical environment. If you have strong leadership capability and transferable experience, we'd love to hear from you. You will bring:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a maintenance, production or operational environment.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodologies, continuous improvement and operational excellence practices.
  • Ability to manage safety, quality and environmental requirements within a regulated environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • SAP experience will be highly regarded.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Asset Management, relevant trade qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
