Primary Location

VIC - ClaytonWork directly with the General Manager – Energy and the functional business services team to manage the day-to-day operations for the Gas transmission and distribution business in the state of Victoria.

Primarily responsible for ensuring contractual obligations and responsibilities are fulfilled and that the operation delivers on targeted revenue and gross margin. Developing the pursuit strategy and having ownership and operational accountability for all tenders within remit, with the General Manager – Energy.

Also act as the Service Delivery Manager for Key Relationship with AGIG.

About the Role

Partner with the General Manager – Energy and the Functional Business Services team to manage day-to-day operations of Victoria’s Gas Transmission and Distribution business. Ensure contractual obligations are met and business targets for revenue and gross margin are achieved. Lead pursuit strategies and take full operational accountability for all tenders within scope. Serve as the Service Delivery Manager for the key AGIG relationship.

Functional responsibilities and deliverables

Core Responsibilities

This role will balance Client relationships, Operational delivery, HSE compliance, strategy and financial target management. This role will suit someone who has experience in the Gas Industry and or managing large commercial contracts.

Lead the Gas Operations team to deliver in a consistent, predictable and high performing manner to:

  • Create a significant and sustainable corporate differentiator in the provision of distribution operations and maintenance, as well as capital renewal project provider.
  • Maintain P&L oversight working with Program and Delivery Managers within portfolio, ensuring P&L health and delivery of budgeted result.
  • Business Order Book Growth strategies to meet the State 3-year Business plan.
  • Position for new business by developing strong client relationships.
  • Lead tender strategies to achieve best in class win rates.
  • Contract retention strategies capturing long, mid and short-term actions for existing contracts.
  • Collate best practice throughout industry and champion the elevation of the Service Stream standard to meet this.
  • Knowledge manages processes, capturing and communicating best practice to leverage the Business Services team to deliver.
  • Drive client and internal cost savings through business improvement initiatives that are a result of innovation and best practice framework.
  • Run operations in a manner that is compliant with the terms and conditions of the contract with the client.

About You

Experienced professional with a strong background in the gas industry and managing large-scale commercial contracts. Proven ability to balance client relationship management, operational delivery, HSE compliance, strategic planning, and financial performance to achieve business objectives.

  • Lead HSE strategy, embedding a zero-harm culture and driving measurable safety outcomes.
  • Manage key client relationships, ensuring delivery excellence while enabling sustainable growth.
  • Drive financial performance with full P&L accountability, improving margins and managing risk.
  • Develop organisational capability and lead continuous improvement across operations.
  • Build and mentor high-performing leadership teams, strengthening capability and culture.
  • Oversee strategic initiatives, change management, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Deliver critical KPIs including revenue, EBITDA growth, contract retention, and cash conversion.
