About the role

We're looking for a Technical Service Delivery Advisor to join our Developer Services team, providing a professional and responsive service to customers through inbound and outbound calls, emails and administration.

This is a varied role that combines telephone-based customer service with administrative and financial tasks, so you'll need to be comfortable switching priorities as customer and business needs change.

You'll work closely with colleagues across Developer Services and the wider business, using our systems confidently, keeping customers informed and following through on commitments. Full training will be provided to build your knowledge of the water industry and our processes.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong customer service experience who is bright, adaptable and keen to develop within a technical service environment. We welcome transferable experience from contact centres, administration, retail, banking, care or other customer-facing settings.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Resolving customer enquiries at the first point of contact wherever possible, using the appropriate manner and tone
  • Handling inbound and outbound calls, emails, correspondence, applications and payments accurately and efficiently
  • Navigating and updating supporting systems while communicating clearly with customers
  • Keeping track of customer priorities and following through on commitments
  • Working flexibly between telephone and administrative activities to meet customer demand and service levels
  • Achieving personal and team targets for service, quality and customer contact
  • Working with other departments and routing enquiries appropriately to deliver the best possible service
  • Identifying problems and contributing ideas that improve processes and the customer experience
  • Supporting colleagues with knowledge sharing and training when required

What you’ll bring to the role:

Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach and explain information clearly
  • Strong customer service skills, with patience, resilience and the confidence to handle challenging situations professionally
  • Good IT skills and the ability to work accurately across multiple systems with close attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation and time management, with the ability to work collaboratively to demanding targets and deadlines

About Southern Water

We are one of the largest water and wastewater companies in the South East of England and thrive on the passion and hard work of more than 2,000 employees.

Together we supply 532 million litres of drinking water every day to more than two million customers and treat and recycle 717 million litres of wastewater for more than four million customers in Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Water is essential to every aspect of our lives and we're proud to be at the heart of managing water and wastewater services. We drink it, cook with it and use it to clean. Our water supply faces big challenges - the population of the South East is growing fast, and climate change is bringing greater risk of droughts and more extreme weather. It’s a future of more people needing water and wastewater services, with less water to go around.

So, together with our customers and communities, we aim to provide a sustainable, high-quality water and wastewater service that helps us create a resilient future for water in the South East.
