Benefits:
At Action for Children, we offer more than just a job. Join us and you’ll be part of a team dedicated to giving children safe and happy childhoods. See how your skills can make a real difference, helping solve the problems children and young people face every day.
A bit about the role
The Service Coordinator will lead the planning, coordination, and quality assurance of structured StepED interventions delivered to small groups of young people in school settings across North Wales.
You’ll work closely with schools, practitioners, and partner agencies to ensure programmes support young people to re‑engage with learning, improve attendance, develop positive relationships, and build the confidence and skills they need to thrive.
As a Service Coordinator, your role includes monitoring programme delivery and outcomes, supporting staff, strengthening relationships with educational settings, and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement. You’ll ensure interventions remain responsive to young people’s needs, aligned with best practice, and contribute to positive educational, social, and wellbeing outcomes.
About the Service
Action for Children has been awarded funding through the Serious Violence Duty to deliver our school‑based intervention programme, StepED, across North Wales.
StepED provides early, targeted support to young people aged 10–18 who may be at risk of disengaging from education, vulnerable to criminal exploitation, or experiencing negative influences in school or their wider community. Through tailored interventions, we help young people build confidence, resilience, and stronger connections with learning.
We work closely with Local Authorities, North Wales Police, schools, and other education partners to identify young people early and reduce both the risk and impact of criminal exploitation. At the heart of the service is a belief in every young person’s potential. We aim to help them feel safe, valued, and empowered to make positive choices and achieve better outcomes in education and life.

Why Action for Children?
Every child should have a loving home, food, warmth, the chance to grow and learn - the support to cope with life’s challenges. But too many children don’t. By bringing your passion and unique skills and experience, you’ll help us change that where it really matters.
We've been driven by love to take action for children for over 150 years, giving them the protection and practical help they need. A lot’s changed since 1869. But what children really need, hasn’t. So as long as children need us, we’ll be here.
