Your New Role and Responsibilities
The Asset & Service Configuration Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate, reliable, and accessible information about IT assets, services, and configuration items (CIs) throughout their lifecycle.
This role owns and champions both Configuration Management and Asset Management practices, ensuring alignment with ITIL, SIAM, and organisational governance. You will ensure the integrity of the CMDB and asset repositories, drive continual improvement of processes and tooling, and provide trusted data to support service delivery, assurance, and decision making.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and improve Asset and Configuration Management practices, policies, processes, operating models, and roadmaps across the organisation.
Own the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of asset data, CMDB records, CI relationships, and service mappings.
Drive improvements to ServiceNow Asset, CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping tools, and integrate practices across ITSM functions.
Plan and manage audits, reconciliations, compliance activities, reporting, and change reviews to ensure CMDB quality, optimisation, and risk management.
Provide guidance and support to projects, technical teams, vendors, and service providers while mentoring staff and driving asset lifecycle and optimisation outcomes
About You and What You'll Bring
Experience in Asset and/or Configuration Management with strong ITIL knowledge and ITIL v3 certification minimum (ITIL v4 preferred).
Methodical and detail-oriented professional with strong accountability, independent thinking, and a focus on delivering high-quality, secure, consistent, and scalable ICT services.
Proactive and collaborative with the ability to take end-to-end ownership, follow through on commitments, and work effectively across teams in high-pressure environments.
Experience with ServiceNow (Asset Management, CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping), asset/configuration audits, data reconciliation, reporting, documentation, and strong Excel-based data analysis.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with desirable experience in SIAM and Defence DSMS/Tamit/dctrack environments
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a minimum NV-1 level security clearance and be willing and able to uplift to an NV-2.
