Job Description

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Service Assistant will assist in performing a variety of routine functions related to the provision of the unit, following infection control and departmental policies and procedures. The Service Assistant provides assistance to the direct patient caregivers, through the performance of specific activities related to the maintenance of the unit.

What must you have?

  • Completion of Grade 12 education or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

What else do you bring?

  • Technical/mechanical ability and dexterity along with ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities on various equipment.
  • Good command of the English language, including reading, writing and oral skills.Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Has understanding and working knowledge of regulations/legislation related to areas of expertise and functional responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.

Preferably, your profile also includes:

  • One (1) year experience in a Healthcare critical care environment with working knowledge of medical terminology, critical care supplies and equipment.
  • A minimum of one (1) year recent Emergency department experience.
  • Previous experience within the Service Assistant classification
  • This position is represented by OPSEU.
