Compensation: Β£12.60 / hour

We are looking to recruit a reliable and enthusiastic Service Assistant to join our Catering Team on a full -time, 36 weeks term-time only basis. Reporting to the Chef Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our catering service, helping to provide a welcoming, safe, and high-quality dining experience for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of food and refreshments, including salad items, baked products, and hot food service preparation for any of our catering outlets anything required from the Chef Manager
  • Prepare and set up dining and service areas where needed, ensuring they are clean, organised, and ready for service including any restocking of goods
  • Operate cash tills and undertake cashier duties in line with college procedures
  • Clean down of catering areas to a high standard
  • Assist with washing-up and daily cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
  • Follow SFBB regards food temperatures recordings cleaning rotas are all completed
  • Assist with college hospitality functions, open events, and other special events
  • Follow food hygiene, food safety, and health and safety procedures always

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy catering environment
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices, or willingness to learn
  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation

Central Campus Sandwell College is one of the newest FE Colleges in the UK and is a landmark for the development of education and training in the region.
