Your Role

In this role, you will manage servers, classify assets and oversee storage space for hard drives and removable media. You will also update server partitions and co-ordinate system resources to meet user and production requirements.

Key Tasks:

  • Advise production staff and users on server best practices to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Co-ordinate system resources according to user and production needs, ensuring smooth operation, data integrity and security.
  • Allocate and manage I/O ports; identify backup solutions when ports are at capacity.
  • Receive and manage assets (e.g., recordings, metadata, news segments, video footage, agency feeds); identify, categorize, digitize and store them according to pre-established standards to streamline searching; contribute to the development of new sorting methods as needed.
  • Select assets based on value and reuse potential; work with the relevant people to determine which assets should be archived, labelled or deleted.
  • Manage and fulfil production requests and track all assets (e.g., copying, routing and sending media).
  • Monitor media asset volume and flow between servers, performing copies as needed to ensure availability.
  • Allocate required equipment and recordings to the appropriate rooms, transfer files during assignment changes and verify that broadcast programs are on the correct servers.
  • Ensure that automated processes (scheduled recordings, playbacks) meet requirements, and program updates as needed.
  • Manage the allocation and use of removable media in line with production requirements.
  • Manage file transfer server rights for external clients and ensure seamless asset transfers.
  • Create and delete server partitions, allocating disk space and finding backup solutions as needed.
  • Update and purge server partitions.
  • Ensure media availability for infographic requirements and update the database.
  • Procure and maintain fonts across various platforms.
  • Record and digitize audio/video assets and mark input/output points.
  • Manage off-site media transfers.
  • Manage all server data archiving operations in line with production requirements.
  • Complete the appropriate forms and documents; share information to ensure proper followup.
  • Train and orient other employees regarding their duties and work environment.
  • Carry out, as needed, the duties of equivalent or lower-level job classifications as well as other related tasks.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • College diploma (DEC) in electronics technology (audiovisual, telecommunications or computer systems option) or other relevant field.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience performing related duties.

Skills:

  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Judgment, initiative and proactive attitude.
  • Strong knowledge of EVS technology (IP Director, LSM, XStore).
  • Comfort working in a live broadcasting environment.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Knowledge of server management tools.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written French.
  • Knowledge of English is an asset.
