Job Description

Our Servers play a vital role in shaping the dining experience through friendly, attentive, timely service and in-depth product knowledge. Their commitment to excellence directly influences our establishment’s reputation, fostering loyalty among satisfied guests. Great servers are the key to ensuring everyone feels welcomed, attended to, and leaves with a positive impression.

Key duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests, take orders, and suggestively sell menu items
  • Accurately enter orders into POS system ensuring a seamless kitchen workflow
  • Prepare and refill guests’ beverages according to established company recipes and standards, following any and all applicable laws for alcoholic beverages
  • Assist guests with menu selections, providing recommendations, and addressing inquiries and special requests
  • Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with coworkers, management, and guests
  • Respond appropriately to guest requests and concerns, communicating them to coworkers or management as necessary
  • Handle guest check transactions, following proper cash handling procedures, processing gift cards and rewards program transactions
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in work areas during and after service
  • Continuously pre-buss and reset tables during and after guests’ dining experiences
  • Follow company policies and standards, as well as any verbal and written instructions from the management team
  • Performs opening and closing duties, as needed, assisting with cleaning, stocking, etc
  • Assist in additional tasks and deep cleaning projects as directed by management
  • Work in a fast-paced, physically demanding, noisy environment

*Given the dynamic nature and high volume of the restaurant, management may occasionally assign additional duties, including but not limited to running food, answering phones, and assisting with seating, to name a few.

Fresh. Friendly. Family Owned. The Original Broken Yolk Cafe started in 1979 in Pacific Beach, a local beach community in San Diego, California. For years, wait lines ran out the door on weekends causing passers-by to stop in and give the restaurant a try. “Once they tried us, they were generally hooked. We’re known for high quality, homemade food and large portions,” says the brand owner.

After a 2009 feature on The Travel Channel’s Man vs Food introduced the brand to millions of viewers outside of Southern California, calls came in from would-be investors, causing the owners to seek help with a franchise expansion model. Now the hometown favorite has grown to 36 locations with 15 of them just in San Diego County and the rest spread across the United States.

Like any growing brand, we’ll continue to stay current with demographic trends, but our primary focus will always be on serving high quality food and giving each guest a great experience.
