Department: Food and Beverage

Employment Type: Seasonal - Full Time

Location: Rail Services

As a server you will help our guests on the train while creating lifelong memories! Dining on a rail car, while traveling through the Alaska wilderness is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Our servers have the chance to share in those memories with our guests while serving Alaska cuisine and locally made drinks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a variety of high-level guest service and sales tasks.
  • Execute a variety of routine food preparation tasks.
  • Regular entry of food and beverage items into the POS (point of sales) system.
  • Process guest payments and prepare reports needed for accounting personnel.
  • Assist in the embark and disembark process of guests, handle luggage and operate internal lift for guests with limited mobility.
  • Answer customer, employee and management queries while upholding our high service standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Minimum age of 18 years required to serve alcohol in the State of Alaska.
  • Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have or the ability to obtain an Alaska Food Handler’s Card.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid alcohol safety card for the State of Alaska.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.
