What is the Opportunity?

CanAtom, a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis and Aecon, is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project under a collaborative contract with Ontario Power Generation. The joint venture is underway to complete the retube, feeder, and boiler replacement (RFBR) of Units 5–8. Building on the successful delivery of the Darlington Refurbishment Project, the CanAtom team brings proven experience in safely executing complex nuclear projects on time and on budget to support Ontario’s clean energy future.

The purpose of this position is to develop, deliver, and evaluate our programs to ensure all personnel are properly qualified to perform safely and efficiently in the dismantle and rebuild of four nuclear reactors. A systematic approach to training (SAT) and adult learning principles will be utilized throughout the delivery of this training program. Updating course curriculums, lesson plans, and training modules as well as mandatory or periodic refresher courses. Our training program includes interactive classroom sessions, e-learning simulators, practical hands-on learning, and full RPPE (Radiation Personal Protective Equipment) dress rehearsals.

This position is a unionized role offering the opportunity to contribute to a diverse and professional team.

What You'll Do Here:

• Develop, implement, and maintain training packages (control of all documents).
• Prepare instructional presentations and attendance records.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation for worker qualifications.
• Collaborate closely with training managers, supervision, and other series trainers.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, and participation in all aspects of series training.
• Identify ongoing training demands from across the project.
• Perform additional related duties when called upon (assist with execution at site).

What You Bring to the Team:

• Post-secondary degree/diploma such as a completed apprenticeship.
• Minimum three to five years of nuclear experience (security clearance).
• Red Seal UA Pipefitter certification
• Knowledge of the EPSCA collective agreement.
• Ability to adapt tone, pace, and language to match the audience's background and learning style.
• Ability to build trust with learners and inspire genuine motivation.
• Ability to manage classroom dynamics, diverse personalities, and potential pushback.
• Ability to be based in an office, classroom, or protected area environment.
• Occasional travel may be required to support project and operational needs.
• The role may require working day or night shifts, including rotating shift schedules as required.

The expected pay range for this role is $60 - $61 per hour.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
