Job Description

This position will play a key role in the research and development project "BioSkillDX" (Principal Investigator: Prof. Yoichi Sato, The University of Tokyo; Project Period: August 1, 2025 – July 31, 2030) under the Economic SecurityTechnology Area (K Program) funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). In the Sequencing Section, to promote the task "Collection and Systematization of Undocumented Knowledge (TacitKnowledge) in Experimental Protocols" (Co-Investigator: Manabu Fujie), we are seeking a specialist whose main duties will be to conduct sequencing experiments associated with the data output of the aforementioned sequencers (including sample preparation, library construction, introduction of protocols for operating the latest sequencers, condition optimization, and technique/operation improvement), and to focus on the practical work of acquiring and accumulating records and metadata accompanying these experiments.

Qualifications

(Required)

  1. Master's degree or higher in a science or technology field, or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Practical experience in molecular biology experiments, with the ability to conduct experiments independently.
  3. Logical thinking skills, with the ability to work systematically and accurately.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively in Japanese.
  5. Fairness, integrity, honesty, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  6. Ability to continuously introduce experimental techniques, optimize conditions, and improve procedures/operations to enhance the quality, reproducibility, and efficiency of experiments.
  7. Comfort with the routine use of experimental equipment, electronic devices, PCs, and, if necessary, AI tools.

(Preferred)

  1. Experience in automating experiments or improving operational efficiency.
  2. Interest in noticing minor anomalies or bottlenecks in experimental methods and using them as a starting point to devise and improve experimental techniques.
  3. Interest in engaging in the launch and setup of new experimental technologies and equipment.
