Northrop Grumman Defense Systems has an opening for a Model Based Design and Analysis Configuration Section Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Roy, UT or Colorado Springs, CO

Candidate will be responsible for managing a motivated team of senior design engineers within a matrixed functional organization, ensuring integration and collaboration across design teams. The Design and Analysis Configuration (DAC) team focuses on the management of the Sentinel EMD Weapon System Product Baseline configuration maturation through program wide collaboration with Design, Manufacturing, Test, and Systems Engineering functions in a dynamic and evolving program environment. The team develops and implements the Weapon System product effectivity scheme in Siemens Teamcenter throughout all development, test, qualification and operational configurations across the four Sentinel Business Units and multiple classification networks.
The team leads the development of novel Product Baseline management solutions in Siemens Teamcenter to enable the management and delivery of a complex Weapon System data product within the construct of the customer’s digital strategy vision. The team serves as a lynchpin for program milestones through final design integration responsibilities and management and delivery of Technical Data Package Contract Data Requirement Lists (CDRLs).
The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation. The successful candidate will approach management of the team and execution of their responsibilities with an outside-the-box mentality and be willing to explore atypical solutions to address the unique complexities of the program.
The successful candidate will demonstrate ability to communicate effectively across engineering disciplines and up to program senior and executive leadership. Must be able to work collaboratively to resolve issues, determine priorities, and implement solutions. Candidate experience with management of product baseline management and data product delivery across all phases of a large vehicle platform or weapon system platform program is preferred.
The candidate will provide the following but not all-inclusive technical support to the Sentinel program:
Provide technical experience as related to the implementation and dissemination of engineering product baseline processes to support Design Engineering.
Support our suppliers with design authority and ingestion of supplier data products into the Sentinel Digital Environment in support of our customer’s digital strategy and vision.
Manage technical data to meet program milestones, including managing risk and opportunities.
Provide mentoring and coaching on technical issues within your area of expertise.
Perform risk analysis, trade studies, process improvement analysis, cost estimates, as applicable.
Tracking to completion tasking and assignments for the team, assisting with workload balancing across team members, collecting metrics, and performing other project management functions as applicable.
Collaborate with design process and governance team and other engineering assignment managers/leads to align priorities and support overall execution of program objectives.
Complete special project assignments from the Office of the Chief Engineering, SEIT Business Unit leadership, and Functional Homeroom Leadership.
The ideal candidate is capable of creating and managing high performing teams while providing technical, administrative and management expertise in the day-to-day activities required to successfully execute complex engineering programs.
Candidate will be self-motivated, work under general direction, and work well in teams.
As an SDS section manager you will lead and manage a team of individual contributors within the design engineering homeroom.
Provide performance feedback, training, mentoring, coaching and career development for your employees.
Support workforce planning and maintain sufficient depth and breadth of skillsets within your department’s core discipline to meet program needs.
Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with homeroom directorate senior management, peers, and employees.
Support development and refinement of processes and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.
Support proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup and audits, and special assignments on an as needed basis.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) disciplines from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
Experience in using ASME, SAE, EIA, and other engineering industry standards.
Experience with mechanical and design engineering principles
Experience using 3D modeling (NX preferred).
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management Tools (Teamcenter preferred).
Experience in engineering baseline control, release process and Build to Package development. Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction.
Experience supporting Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) or other missile design and deployment programs or projects.
Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.
Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager.
Experience interpreting and ensuring design compliance to industry and/or military standards and specifications
2 years of experience in a people leadership role, or 4 years or experience as a technical lead
Experience writing and defending technical position papers
Experience working with chief engineers and Integrated Product Teams
Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks, and mentor junior engineers
Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
Ability to function in a dynamic and collaborative environment, and be flexible to changing direction
Primary Level Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $181,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
