Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior/Principal Graphics Engineer based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to build and evolve high-performance graphics technology for a large-scale, cross-platform social gaming experience.
You will work at the engine level, developing sophisticated C++ systems focused on real-time rendering, performance, scalability, and visual quality.
The position involves close collaboration with engine engineers, gameplay developers, artists, and designers to deliver exceptional experiences across a broad range of devices.
A major focus will be profiling and optimizing CPU and GPU performance, particularly for mobile platforms and varying performance tiers.
You will contribute to rendering features, graphics pipelines, engine components, and developer tools while helping maintain a robust technical foundation.
As a senior technical contributor, you will also mentor teammates, share engineering practices, and help advance the team's graphics capabilities.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced graphics engineer passionate about pushing the boundaries of real-time rendering and modern game technology.

Accountabilities

  • Develop high-performance C++ systems for a proprietary game engine, with a strong focus on real-time rendering, scalability, and runtime performance.
  • Design, implement, and maintain advanced rendering features, core engine components, graphics pipelines, and supporting development tools.
  • Collaborate closely with engine engineers, gameplay programmers, artists, designers, and other technical stakeholders to translate creative and product requirements into robust graphics solutions.
  • Profile, diagnose, and optimize CPU and GPU performance across a wide range of devices, with particular emphasis on mobile hardware and different performance tiers.
  • Work with modern rendering technologies and graphics APIs, including Vulkan and Metal, to deliver high-quality cross-platform experiences.
  • Investigate complex graphics and engine challenges and develop efficient, maintainable solutions that improve both visual fidelity and performance.
  • Write clean, well-structured, maintainable C++ code with appropriate documentation and clear code-level comments.
  • Contribute to the evolution of graphics architecture, rendering workflows, and engine technology as platform capabilities and industry standards develop.
  • Mentor other engineers, share technical knowledge and best practices, and contribute to the growth and effectiveness of the engineering team.
  • Stay current with developments in graphics programming, rendering techniques, GPU architectures, mobile platforms, and emerging industry technologies.
  • Requirements

    • At least 6 years of professional experience in the game industry, with a proven track record of contributing to or shipping large-scale 3D games.
    • Expert-level proficiency in C++, including deep knowledge of performance optimization, multithreading, and low-level engine systems.
    • Strong understanding of modern real-time rendering pipelines and graphics programming principles.
    • Hands-on experience with graphics APIs such as Vulkan and Metal
    • Proven experience working with game engines and art or content production pipelines.
    • Strong proficiency with GPU profiling and debugging tools and the ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
    • Experience developing graphics or engine technology across multiple platforms and hardware configurations.
    • Strong understanding of CPU/GPU architecture, performance tuning, and scalability considerations.
    • Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and communicate technical decisions effectively.
    • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, artists, designers, and other cross-functional partners.
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor teammates, share knowledge, and contribute to technical direction.
    • Passion for graphics technology and a willingness to continuously explore new rendering techniques and platform capabilities.
    • Familiarity with SIMD instruction sets is a plus.
    • Experience pushing the boundaries of Android graphics, particularly with Vulkan, is highly valued.
    • A portfolio or technical demonstration of graphics work, such as a project shared through ShaderToy or a comparable platform, is a plus.
    • Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States or Canada; employment visa sponsorship or transfer is not currently available.
    • Benefits

      • Annual salary range of $150,000–$220,000 USD, depending on experience and compensation factors.
      • Opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus.
      • Fully remote work environment for eligible candidates in the US and Canada.
      • Paid time off, paid holidays, and a two-week winter break.
      • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents, beginning on the first day of employment with no waiting period.
      • Pet insurance.
      • Compassionate leave to support employees caring for family members.
      • Pre-tax wellness stipend.
      • Pre-tax work-from-home stipend.
      • 401(k) savings plan with company matching.
      • Mental health resources, including Headspace membership and an Employee Assistance Program.
      • Discount portal for everyday goods and services.
      • Employee inclusion and diversity initiatives.
      • Support for personal and professional development.
      • Opportunity to work on technically challenging graphics and engine problems across multiple platforms and performance tiers.
