Description & Requirements

Being in a business support role at Australia Post means helping our people deliver for every Australian. Just like our Posties, you’re still the people behind every parcel. Whatever your team or role, you’re helping grow our people, grow our business and making a lasting impact on the Australian community. You’ll find a culture of connection in our great people and the flexibility to balance work with life outside of it.

About the opportunity

Step into a pivotal leadership role as a Senior Workplace Rehabilitation Provider, where you’ll help shape workplace health and recovery at Australia Post. This is more than just a return to work role, it's your chance to drive positive change by guiding injured employees through safe and sustainable recovery pathways, while also building capability within a dedicated and values-driven team.

You’ll be part of a team that’s collaborating with operational leaders, medical professionals, and internal partners to deliver proactive, person centred rehabilitation support that truly makes a difference.

What you’ll deliver with us

You’ll report to the Regional Manager and lead a team of Workplace Rehabilitation Providers across your region. You’ll manage complex and high-risk cases, develop team capability, and shape strategies that support early intervention and successful return to work outcomes. You’ll work closely with key stakeholders across HR, Safety, Workers’ Compensation and Operational teams, making sure each case is managed in line with legislation, licensing, and our values-led approach.

You’ll also

  • Lead, coach and support a team managing workplace rehabilitation and return to work for injured employees.
  • Personally manage a portfolio of complex or strategic rehabilitation cases across the region.
  • Oversee and guide the use of external providers to ensure alignment with internal standards and outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice and insights to operations to ensure return to work programs are both supportive and productive.
  • Develop team capability through structured mentoring, training and performance coaching.

About you

You’re a proactive, knowledgeable professional with a strong foundation in workplace rehabilitation and a passion for driving safe and sustainable return-to-work outcomes. Confident working with complex cases, you bring clarity and structure to sensitive situations, balancing empathy with sound clinical and operational judgement. As a natural leader, you’re just as comfortable mentoring others as you are navigating legislation, data, and stakeholder engagement. You thrive in a collaborative, safety-first culture and are motivated by the opportunity to support employee wellbeing while influencing real business outcomes.

You’ll also need

  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, or rehabilitation counselling (required).
  • Demonstrated experience managing a complex portfolio of work-related injury cases, with a strong track record of achieving timely, sustainable return-to-work outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of rehabilitation policy, principles, and procedures, along with practical knowledge regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with unions, treating health professionals, and internal leadership teams.
  • Proficiency in analysing performance data, applying business insights, and leading improvement initiatives or projects that enhance safety and injury management outcomes.

What else is in it for you?

  • Bring your whole self to work every day and be met by a welcoming bunch of people who respect and support you
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, like the opportunity to work from home two days per week
  • Opportunities for growth and development through formal programs or mentorship
  • Exclusive team member discounts and offers for more cash in your pocket, evolving policies for flexible working, leave types and access to health and wellbeing resources

All walks, one route

It takes a lot of us to deliver for every Australian – and it’s important to us that our people behind the parcels reflect the people receiving them. We come from all walks. Different backgrounds, different ages, different genders, different sexualities and different abilities, but we all believe in the same purpose.

We welcome people all ages, genders and backgrounds – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, LGBTQIA+ communities, and refugees. We’re a Disability Confident Recruiter, committed to making our hiring process and workplace inclusive and barrier-free. We’re also working hard to remove bias and build a gender-equitable experience for everyone who joins us. If you’ve got questions about accessibility, reach out to our Diversity & Inclusion team at inclusivecareers@auspost.com.au or on 03 8737 9415.
