Position Overview

Autodesk is looking for a Senior Workday Developer to join our People Engineering team. At Autodesk, we believe you can #makeanything, and in this role, you will bring that same mindset to the systems and processes that support our global workforce.

You will play a key role in enhancing and supporting Workday across Integrations, Workday Extend, Core Human Capital Management (HCM), Benefits, Payroll, Security, and Reporting. Working closely with People, Payroll, Finance, Information Technology (IT), and external partners, you will deliver scalable, secure, and high-impact solutions that improve the employee experience and support Autodesk's global People strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain Workday integrations using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, Workday Studio, and Representational State Transfer (REST) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
  • Develop and enhance Workday Extend applications, including custom pages, model objects, and embedded business logic
  • Configure and support Core Human Capital Management (HCM), including business processes, job profiles, position management, worker data, and employee lifecycle events
  • Manage Benefits configurations, including eligibility, open enrollment, life events, carrier feeds, and vendor integrations
  • Support payroll integrations, payment elections, banking configurations, and global payroll processes
  • Configure organizational structures, including legal entities, companies, cost centers, pay groups, and supervisory organizations
  • Maintain and audit Workday security roles, domain policies, and business process security
  • Develop advanced reports, dashboards, matrix reports, and complex calculated fields
  • Support biannual Workday releases, including impact analysis, testing, implementation, and enhancements
  • Troubleshoot complex system and integration issues while ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable Workday solutions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Workday processes, integrations, and engineering practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years of hands-on Workday experience across multiple modules
  • Strong expertise in Workday Integrations, including Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Workday Studio, Core Connectors, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
  • Experience developing Workday Extend applications, including custom pages, model objects, and application design
  • Strong understanding of integration architecture, APIs, and data transformation
  • Deep knowledge of Core Human Capital Management (HCM), Benefits, Payroll, Security, and Reporting
  • Advanced Workday reporting and calculated field development skills
  • Strong understanding of global People and payroll processes
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with globally distributed and cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday certifications in Human Capital Management (HCM), Integrations, Extend, Security, Benefits, or related areas
  • Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience working within a global enterprise environment
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum development teams
  • Experience managing Workday releases and structured change control processes
  • Experience designing scalable Workday solutions that support complex global business requirements

  • Demonstrates deep knowledge of Workday capabilities and applies platform best practices to complex business requirements
  • Solves complex technical and functional challenges by applying analytical thinking, sound judgment, and practical experience
  • Takes a broad perspective when evaluating solutions and considers downstream impacts across People, Payroll, Finance, and Information Technology systems
  • Translates complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable Workday solutions
  • Identifies opportunities to improve existing processes and recommends innovative approaches that enhance efficiency and employee experience
  • Takes ownership of projects, integrations, and key workstreams from requirements through implementation and ongoing support
  • Works independently while seeking guidance when navigating highly complex or unusual situations
  • Builds strong relationships with senior practitioners, business stakeholders, technical teams, and external partners
  • Communicates complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of Workday processes, engineering standards, and operational practices
  • Shares knowledge and serves as a technical resource or mentor to colleagues with less experience
  • Demonstrates curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning as Workday capabilities and business needs evolve
