Job Description

What Drives Us

Rivergum has evolved from traditional homebuilding into a creator of smart, sustainable medium‑density communities. With a strong development pipeline and a team of exceptional professionals, we’re shaping Adelaide’s future with quality, insight and purpose.

Proudly South Australian for 32 years, we’re recognised among InDaily’s Top 52 Businesses (2025) and ranked Top 2 in SA by the HIA. In the coming weeks, we’ll move into our new Bowden headquarters a space designed to spark creativity, inspiration and collaboration.

Our values Fun, Teamwork, Integrity, Great Ideas and Own It guide everything we do.

Join us at a defining moment and become a key member of our high‑performing team as we continue to grow and innovate.

What success looks like

You will confidently own the WHS function and elevating safety performance across Rivergum. You will lead and continuously improve the WHS management system, ensuring compliance with South Australian legislation while building strong relationships across construction and corporate teams.
You’ll coordinate contractor inductions, verify SWMS and JSEAs, and maintain a visible presence on site through regular inspections and proactive engagement. You’ll take charge of incident investigations, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions to completion, while also managing workers’ compensation claims and return‑to‑work programs with care and professionalism.
Your work will strengthen our safety culture, enhance capability through training and induction, and ensure accurate reporting, documentation and monthly WHS dashboards that support informed decision‑making across the business.

Is this you?

You’re a confident, self‑directed WHS practitioner who
thrives in an autonomous role and enjoys balancing fieldwork with system
leadership. You bring:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Work Health and Safety or a related field. A Certificate IV in
WHS will be considered for highly experienced candidates.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Demonstrated experience leading a WHS function, ideally in construction or a related built‑environment setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA), model WHS Regulations and relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Hands‑on experience managing workers’ compensation claims and return‑to‑work programs through
    ReturnToWorkSA.
  • Practical capability in incident investigation, hazard identification, risk assessment and SWMS
    review.
  • Proven ability to operate as the sole or lead WHS resource, providing confident, independent
    advice to senior leaders.
  • Clear communication skills, strong documentation discipline and the ability to influence at
    all levels.
  • High level of experience using WORX platform or similar safety systems
  • Integrity, resilience and a solutions‑focused mindset.
  • Experience in fleet management.
  • Construction Induction White Card.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence (car + fuel card provided).

Why you’ll love it here

At RHG, you’ll step into a role where your expertise is respected, and your voice genuinely shapes how safety is lived across our business. You’ll enjoy:

  • True autonomy and trust to lead WHS your way.
  • A supportive leadership team that values proactive safety.
  • The chance to influence safety culture across a major SA residential builder.
  • Variety- office, site, systems, coaching, investigations and capability building.
  • A role where your work directly protects people and improves outcomes.
  • You’ll join a supportive, collaborative team that values expertise and continuous learning.

Let’s make it happen!

If you’re ready to apply your WHS capability, your sharp eye for risk and your passion for creating safer construction environments, we’d love to hear from you. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building strong relationships, earning trust on site and partnering closely with teams to embed safe, practical ways of working.

Please note: this role offers a hybrid mix of office and on‑site work across metropolitan Adelaide, based from our new Bowden headquarters. Remote work is not available for this position.
