Job Duties

Under direct supervision:

  • The Well Engineer is responsible for well proposals and the Basis of Design.
  • Provides Operation Plans and prepares Programs as well as assures technical integrity of Operations planning and execution.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day surveillance of operations.
  • Responsible for the creation of Approval for Expenditure (AFE) and performs cost control of operations.
  • Participates in risk assessment, forecasts and plans medium and long term needs to meet program requirements, and anticipates operational changes and needs.
  • Prepares equipment lists and identifies long lead items.
  • Ensures proper communication within the project.
  • Performs engineering studies to solve recurring problems.
  • Prepares End-of-Well reports and contributes to knowledge management.

Additional Role Responsibilities:

(1) Ability and flexibility to travel to Iraq both domestically and internationally typically 28/28 days per business required.

(2) Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a relevant Engineering specialization

(3) Manages all aspects of rig operations including HS&E, detail well planning, well construction, resourcing, cost reporting, performance management, materials and logistics, service company performance and management systems compliance

(4) Manages the team, ensures activities are prioritized effectively and that the team delivers results in line with approved plans and timescales.

(5) Develops a high level of responsibility and ownership within the team and promotes continuous improvement in the development of technical expertise and competency, standards and practices, commercial awareness and innovative thinking.

(6) Demonstrated experience working on diverse, cross-functional teams.

(7) Demonstrated Managership skills.

(8) Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders demands and issues on a Global scale.

(9) Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deadlines.

(10) Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

(11) Strong acumen for technology development and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in STEM, preference in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering, and 4 or more years of well services / intervention experience.
  • Supervisory experience and exposure to Multi-discipline operations is preferred.
  • Must have Well Control Certificate.

Preferred Experience:

Minimum of 10-years relevant experience in their discipline or in an operations environment within the oil & gas industry.
