Auckland Council’s Waste Planning team has an opportunity for a Senior Waste Planning Specialist (Construction and Demolition) in the Waste Planning team.
In this role, you’ll take a senior position within the team and provide subject matter expertise on Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste. You’ll help drive the actions in the Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP) and support wider legislative requirements aimed at reducing the impacts of waste across the Auckland region.
You’ll build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships across the council group, as well as with industry, researchers, central government, civil society, and mana whenua.

There remuneration range for the role is between $105,000 - $120,000 depending on experience and skillset.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You will have experience managing contracts, along with strong knowledge of waste management and how local government operates, including key drivers and requirements that shape service delivery. A working knowledge of relevant legislation, bylaws, and council obligations, particularly the Waste Minimisation Act 2008, Local Government Act 2002, and Litter Act 1979 is key.
The role requires highly developed interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be able to navigate challenging socio‑political environments with competing priorities and problem‑solve effectively while working autonomously.
As a highly organised individual you can manage resources to meet targets effectively. You demonstrate personal resilience and stay composed under pressure. You present information with credibility, offer and receive constructive feedback professionally.
