We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Vice President, Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR).

In this role you will

  • Review and approve new, increase and renewal of Commercial Banking or Global Banking credits according to delegated authority and to deliver credit decisions within commercially competitive timeframes
  • Promote high level of customer service and support Commercial Banking and Global Banking business growth in pursuit of HSBC’s strategy
  • Promote strong asset quality in the Commercial Banking and Global Banking portfolio
  • Identify deterioration in Commercial Banking and Global Banking credits through independent reviews, foster no surprises culture by early detection and management of emerging risks, including but not limited to financial and non-financial risks (including fraud and operational), and thus, minimize credit losses
  • Review new product papers originating from Commercial Banking and Global Banking
  • Provide risk specific training and coaching to front-line staff
  • Perform regular and ad hoc portfolio reviews and stress testing; Ensure compliance with area and group’s lending guidelines, audit and regulatory requirements
  • Champion or contribute suggestions to improve operational efficiency of the department

To be successful you will need

  • Extenstive experience at a senior level in Corporate/Commercial Banking/Credit Risk Management, analysing corporate credit including quantitative analysis, credit approvals, undertaking risk identification on a customer and portfolio basis, conducting sector/industry reviews and risk management coaching.
  • High degree of analytical skills and industry knowledge and the ability to work efficiently and independently within tight timescales commensurate to the competitive business environment
  • Degree holder in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Accountancy or related discipline
  • Sufficient knowledge of corporate banking products
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
