Job Description

Senior Vice President (SVP) of Finance

Department: Accounting & Finance

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Hawthorne, California

Compensation: $250,000 - $290,000 / year

Venturi Astrolab, Inc. (Astrolab) is pioneering new ways to explore and operate on distant planetary bodies. We are singularly focused on designing, building, and operating a fleet of multi-purpose commercial planetary rovers to extend and enhance humanity’s presence in the solar system. We are seeking motivated, creative, and exceptional people to join our world-class team.

The SVP of Finance will serve as a strategic right hand to the CFO, taking full ownership of our internal financial machine. This is not a detached, purely oversight role—we need a leader who loves getting into the numbers, refining complex corporate models, and building scalable systems from scratch.

Your mission will be to transform raw operational, manufacturing, and government contracting data into the actionable metrics and forecasts that steer executive decisions and drive operational efficiency.

What you'll do:

Hands-on FP&A Leadership & Financial Modeling
  • Own the design, execution, and continuous optimization of long-range corporate financial models, annual operating budgets, and rolling forecasts.
  • Conduct deep-dive financial analyses on manufacturing unit economics, production variances, and capital expenditures (CapEx).
  • Run scenario analyses and build dynamic models to support executive decision-making around capital allocation, pricing structures, and scaling strategies.
Government Contracting & Reporting Operations
  • Oversee and implement compliant financial structures tailored to government contracting tracking, ensuring tight alignment between program management and corporate finance.
  • Manage complex reporting cadences for internal leadership, board members, and external investors.
Cross-Department Communication & Alignment
  • Serve as the analytical bridge between Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure every department’s operational goals translate accurately into the master financial model.
  • Break down complex financial insights into clear, digestible narratives for non-financial stakeholders to ensure organization-wide alignment.
Systems Implementation, Oversight & KPIs
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize modern financial systems, ERP integrations, and business intelligence (BI) data dashboards to create a "single source of truth."
  • Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) focused heavily on manufacturing throughput, inventory turns, cost variances, and operational efficiency.

What you'll bring:

  • Industry Experience: At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing and government contracting environments. You must understand the nuances of inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), labor tracking, and compliance frameworks.
  • FP&A Expertise: A proven track record of growing and leading an FP&A function, with a passion for building models rather than just reviewing them.
  • Systems Fluency: Hands-on experience choosing, implementing, and managing sophisticated financial planning tools, ERPs, and data pipelines.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to collaborate with brilliant engineers and operations leaders, aligning their physical milestones with company financial targets.
  • Education & Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a highly quantitative field; MBA or advanced financial certification is preferred.

Benefits and Perks

  • Join a team of best-in-class engineers building the foundation of planetary surface exploration
  • Equity ownership in the company
  • Comprehensive health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and mental health support
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Flexible PTO and parental leave
  • Home office set up reimbursement
  • Weekly lunch stipend, plus complimentary snacks and beverages on-site
  • Once a month social hour on-site with food and drinks
