The Institutional Client Coverage (ICG) team in Singapore is a product-agnostic coverage franchise responsible for managing and growing HSBC’s relationships with institutional clients. This role focuses on origination, relationship management, and disciplined risk stewardship across a portfolio of Financial Institutions and other institutional investor segments, partnering closely with product and risk teams to deliver sustainable growth.

ICG Public Sector includes Central Banks, Government Agencies and Bodies and Development Financial Institutions; local and regional/international institutions investing into Singapore and the region.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as SVP, ICG Coverage, CIB

In this role you will:

  • Client strategy & coverage planning Build and maintain a deep understanding of assigned clients, their business models, strategic priorities, and industry trends; develop actionable client plans with clear revenue and risk objectives.
  • Revenue growth & origination Drive profitable growth across the Singapore institutional client portfolio through disciplined origination and cross-sell, collaborating with product partners across banking, markets, and securities services.
  • Client engagement & senior-level relationship management Lead high-quality client dialogues, including senior stakeholder engagement, and coordinate meeting preparation, follow-ups, and delivery against agreed actions.
  • Solutions & proposal development Identify opportunities, perform client/problem analysis, and prepare tailored proposals, pitches, and presentations to deliver differentiated, needs-based solutions.
  • Portfolio management & commercial discipline Monitor client performance, returns, pipeline, and deal economics; support achievement of revenue, wallet share, and client satisfaction targets while maintaining cost awareness.
  • Risk management and First Line of Defence Act as First Line of Defence for financial crime and credit risk by ensuring appropriate KYC/CDD, transaction awareness, escalation of red flags, and adherence to HSBC risk appetite.
  • Regulatory and policy compliance Ensure full compliance with applicable Singapore regulatory requirements and HSBC internal policies/procedures, including documentation standards and governance processes.
  • Stakeholder coordination (local & regional) Serve as a central point of contact for Singapore-specific matters, partnering with regional coverage teams and internal stakeholders to execute opportunities and resolve client issues promptly.

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Proven relevant experience in institutional client coverage, corporate banking, markets, or related financial services roles in Singapore and/or the region.
  • Market and client knowledge Strong understanding of the Singapore financial sector, institutional client landscape, and relevant regulatory environment.
  • Product knowledge Working knowledge across banking, markets, and/or securities services products, with the ability to translate product capability into client value propositions.
  • Risk capability Demonstrated understanding of credit risk fundamentals, financial crime risk, and KYC/CDD requirements; strong risk judgement and escalation discipline.
  • Relationship and communication skills Proven ability to build trust, influence senior stakeholders, and communicate clearly with clients and internal partners; confident presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Ways of working Self-driven, collaborative team player with high integrity; able to manage multiple priorities under pressure and deliver at pace.
