We are seeking a Senior Vice President - Senior Tax Expert to lead end-to-end German Fund Tax delivery within the German Fund Administration Team in Frankfurt.

In this senior role, you will own client tax deliverables for German investment funds (with a focus on Spezialfonds), coordinate daily vendor oversight, and partner closely with Product, Operations, Risk/Compliance, Legal, and Governance on complex tax and regulatory matters.

You will shape tax operating models, reporting processes, and controls that meet German market standards.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Plan and steer tax deliverables per fund/segment with rigorous deadline management and quality checks.
  • Significant client facing responsibilities, with frequent interaction across various client stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the calculation of tax metrics and tax reporting; perform plausibility checks against fund accounting (HGB).
  • Manage vendor deliverables (e.g., year end/interim reporting, Feststellungserklärungen, Kapitalertragsteuer (KESt) filings), including change control and issue resolution.
  • Address complex client inquiries; communicate with custodians/KVG, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Enhance IT support and interfaces for tax/regulatory reporting; ensure data quality, controls, and audit readiness.
  • Track regulatory/tax changes; assess impacts and define process/control updates.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • 7+ years of relevant German tax experience, ideally German CPA (StB/WP) and Big Four background.
  • Fluency in German and English (spoken and written).
  • Deep expertise across Financial Services Tax, Asset Management, German tax law, and German regulatory requirements, including:
    • Investmentsteuergesetz (InvStG) — Spezialfonds, daily tax metrics (e.g., Aktiengewinn, Abkommensgewinn, Teilfreistellungsgewinn), Feststellungserklärung, and German GAAP/HGB reconciliations.
    • European Fund Tax Reporting and German regulatory law (including AO obligations, e.g., § 138 AO).
    • Exposure to Structured Products and Alternative Investments.
  • Proven client‑delivery ownership with end-to-end planning, prioritization, and execution of tax deliverables, and strong stakeholder management (clients, custodians, vendors, internal teams).
  • Demonstrated vendor management experience overseeing outsourced tax services (Big Four firms) with robust SLA/KPI governance.
  • Strong process & IT affinity (data management, interfaces/portals, CSV/Excel), quality assurance, and control frameworks.
  • Sharp analytical judgment for assessing changes in legislation and regulation and their impact on fund processes; excellent written communication for technical position papers.
  • Senior-level communication and leadership skills; ability to provide functional leadership, mentoring, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Nice to have (Add ons):

  • Experience with fund taxation prior to 2018 (legacy InvStG regime).
  • Withholding Tax (WHT) reclaim processes for German dividend income (local tax office/BZSt), including documentation management and deadline tracking.
