Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports
the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates, which operate non-profit health centers
across the U.S. PPFA also works to educate the public on and advocate for issues of sexual and
reproductive health. Formed as the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America,
Planned Parenthood Action Fund is a separate non-profit membership organization tax-exempt under
section 501(c)(4). The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and limited electoral activity,
including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education in furtherance of the Planned
Parenthood mission.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a
dynamic and data-driven Senior Vice President (SVP) of Development Data, Operations and
Technology. As a core member of Development’s Senior Leadership team, this job reports to the Chief
Development Officer (CDO) in the Development division of PPFA. This role serves as the backbone of
our philanthropic efforts, ensuring that the infrastructure supporting our mission is robust, scalable, and
best-in-class. This role provides the strategic roadmap for the foundational systems and data
architecture that empowers Planned Parenthood’s fundraising strategy and builds a cohesive
development operations function in service of the National Office and Federation fundraising goals.
Purpose:
- Provides strategic leadership for all the technical and data strategy functions that are
foundational to the ability of our multi channel marketing and philanthropy functions to
innovate, scale, and grow our fundraising capabilities
- Directs the creation of cutting-edge operational solutions and data-forward practices that
position Development as a leader in operational excellence within and outside Planned
Parenthood
- Unifies all development technical and data operations functions into a cohesive, and high-impact
division that scales with the organization’s ambitions
- Provides data-strategy and analytics support to the Philanthropy and Federation Fundraising
verticals, as well as the overall divisional strategy
- In collaboration with the Philanthropy and Federation verticals, leads the enterprise-wide donor
data strategy, ensuring that advanced analytics and business intelligence directly inform
fundraising, resource allocation, and organizational growth
- Builds a culture of exceptional service delivery to fundraising strategists within the Federation
and Philanthropy verticals, to ensure the timely, accurate, and donor centric execution of our
fundraising campaigns and data operations at scale within the National office and across the
Federation
- As a member of the Senior Development Leadership Team (SDLT), the SVP influences
strategic decisions across Development, in service of a unified Development strategy and
models PPFA’s In This Together values in leading the division
Engagement:
- Partners with the COO, CFO, General Counsel and other leaders to ensure concurrence with
interdivisional priorities and operational effectiveness in fundraising technical and data practices.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and bridge between Development and key corporate
functions, including Finance, Office of the General Counsel (OGC), and IT
- The SVP must be an expert in internal partnership, working closely with peer vertical leaders to
ensure that operational workflows empower fundraising success
- Leads with deep empathy and a proven track record of modernizing fundraising operations for
greater impact, and leading changes in business processes and workflow
- Motivates and champions their team to explore innovative approaches to challenges
experienced in the Philanthropy sector
Delivery:
- Provides the strategic vision and direction for all fundraising technical and data operations
functions ensuring that multi-year strategies are in place to strengthen our foundation and power
PPFA’s fundraising ambitions
- Leads the recruitment, development, and retention of a diverse team of professionals, fostering
an environment of innovation, engagement, and sustained excellence
- Partners with executive leadership to advance a culture that embraces change, fosters teamwork,
and prioritizes belonging, ensuring the team is equipped to grow, innovate, and pivot
- Leads the department through complex transitions, including system migrations, process
re-engineering, and data-informed decision-making
- Upholds and evolves technical and data operational standards within the division by ensuring
accountability and consistent service delivery levels for internal and external stakeholders
- Identifies and reduces workflow and technical bottlenecks in the donor lifecycle, from prospect
research and gift intake to gifts acknowledgement and reporting
- Leads the enterprise-wide donor data strategy, ensuring that advanced analytics and business
intelligence directly inform fundraising, resource allocation, and organizational growth
- Leads an innovative approach to fundraising technology, with a focus on staying ahead of
industry trends to ensure PPFA utilizes state-of-the-art tools for donor engagement
- Strategically direct departmental budgets and investments in technology, ensuring that resource
allocation is directly tied to long-term revenue projections
- Serves as a key voice in the National Office leadership, and contributes to the overall
Development division strategy, in partnership with peers, by developing reporting and analytics
resources that support fundraising strategy and inform revenue projections and resource
allocation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Minimum Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree in Business, Information Systems, or
Non-Profit Management preferred
- Minimum 20 years of experience in fundraising operations, with at least 8 years in a senior
leadership role within a large, complex non-profit or corporate environment
- Proven track record of managing large-scale organizational change and process improvement
initiatives
- Exceptional ability to translate complex data sets into actionable fundraising strategies and clear
executive-level reporting
- Leadership experience in master data management, data governance, data operations, data
privacy and compliance reporting
- Deep expertise in complex marketing or fundraising technical stacks including: CRM systems
(eg. Salesforce), data warehouses, customer data platforms, digital marketing platforms,
business intelligence tools, payment processors, and the integration of third-party fundraising
platforms
- Strong ability to build alliances with peer leaders and navigate the needs of business units like
Finance and Legal
- A "systems thinker" with a relentless focus on streamlining workflows and establishing rigorous
operational standards
- A commitment to providing exceptional internal service delivery, viewing the Development Data
Operations and Technology team as partners in the success of the frontline fundraisers
- A proven track record of leading with empathy when leading change, while navigating
challenging or high-pressure organizational dynamics
- Ability to lead a diverse team of passionate fundraising operations professionals and developing
talent

Travel: 10% - 20% (Primarily for internal retreats/meetings)
