Job Title – Senior Vice President, Accounting and Finance (Fintech)
Help ensure the financial health of a cutting-edge fintech organization.
Our client, a successful financial technology and services company, currently seeks candidates with strong business leadership skills and subject matter expertise in finance and accounting matters for their Senior Vice President, Accounting and Finance position. This individual will be a senior manager who interacts with peers to align financial reporting with functional needs. As the leader of the accounting team and reporting directly to the chief financial officer (CFO), the SVPA&F is responsible for closely monitoring the company’s financial health, maintaining, managing, and analyzing financial statements, payrolls, budgets, state and local tax compliance issues, and more. This role includes analyzing data and advising top executives on ways to use that information to make strategic decisions about the organization’s current and future trajectory.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining internal controls over company assets through formal Policies and Procedures, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Presenting financial reports (e.g. preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements) that incorporate budgets, forecasts and prior year comparisons, financial analysis, and cash management.
- Preparing annual budgets.
- Establishing financial and operating benchmarks.
- Implementing consistent accounting procedures across all reporting entities to foster efficient workflows and cross training coverage.
- Ensuring financial records adhere to GAAP standards.
- Emphasizing new technology ideas to improve productivity and shift the staff from a transactional to an in-depth value-added analysis.
- Overseeing and supporting the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Building personal development and career pathing through formal and internal training of staff.
- Supporting and collaborating with business and functional heads by providing timely and insightful information that incorporates relevant benchmarks and metrics that they can use to monitor their areas of responsibility as well as analyze new opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field.
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).
- Ten or more years of professional accounting experience in a software technology business .
- Experience supervising a staff of at least 4 professional employees.
- Member of a senior level management team.
- Expertise preparing GAAP consolidated financial statements.
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local taxation.
- Strong understanding of financial services business and technology industry.
- Working knowledge of GAAP compliance reporting and creativity in applying to company transactions.
- Solid analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills.
- Organization and leadership ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Management skills that demonstrate leadership through persuasion.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with enterprise resource planning implementation is a plus.
