Job Description

Picture this. You finish a consult and you are not racing the clock. Routine visits are 20 minutes, unwell pets get 30. Your notes are already drafted by Heidi AI, so you can actually think, breathe, and focus on the next patient.

Greencross Richlands is looking for a confident Senior Veterinarian to join us permanently, full-time or part-time. We also have a 6-month maternity leave cover coming up for our Veterinary Director role, and there is an optional opportunity for you to step into that Acting Veterinary Director position if leadership is a path you want to explore.

If you love the leadership piece and want to move into a permanent Veterinary Director role longer-term, we can help you find the right permanent Veterinary Director opportunity across our Greencross network.

Why this role feels different

  • Purpose-built, brand-new clinic next to Petbarn in Richlands

  • Four spacious consult rooms with natural light

  • Separate dog and cat wards, with runs for larger patients

  • Dedicated rooms for radiology and ultrasound

  • Modern theatre, plus extra treatment spaces for dental and advanced procedures

  • Established client base that already knows the team

The way we work

  • 20-minute routine consults, 30 minutes for unwell pets

  • Heidi AI note-taking to cut admin and give you your evenings back

  • No after-hours

  • Flexible rostering, including school-hour options

The optional Acting Veterinary Director opportunity (6 months)

Our Veterinary Director will be going on maternity leave, and we will be covering the position for 6 months.

If you would like to stretch into leadership, you can step into the Acting Veterinary Director responsibilities during that period, with support from the wider Greencross leadership team and network. If you would rather stay focused on being a Senior Vet, that is completely okay too. This role is still a permanent Senior Vet opportunity first and foremost.

Benefits that matter

  • Paid parental leave, paid study leave, funded CPD tailored to you

  • Free AVA or Vet Board registration and VIN membership

  • Mental health and wellbeing support, with trained first aid officers in every clinic

  • Employee discounts across the network

  • Equity Partnership pathways if ownership is on your horizon

  • Bonus: the clinic handles compliance for export work if you want to broaden your skill set

How to apply

If you want thoughtful medicine, modern kit, real breathing room, and a roster that respects your life, we would love to hear from you.
