About VIATechnik:

VIATechnik is on a mission to lead the built environment in creating a better future, today. We are one team of over 500 digital experts around the globe. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed architects, engineers, tradespersons, researchers, and business leaders. Together, we empower clients through high-quality, high-velocity experiences that consistently improve outcomes across the design, construction, and operations of buildings and infrastructure. Our clients include Amazon, Mars Wrigley, and National Geographic, the firms shaping the world's most ambitious projects.

The Role

VIATechnik is looking for a VDC Engineer II who is passionate about delivering high-quality BIM/VDC solutions for mechanical and piping systems across complex commercial and industrial projects. You'll lead coordination, advanced modeling, clash detection, and project communication - all while working with world-class teams across the U.S. and globally.

If you enjoy solving technical challenges, shaping best practices, and influencing project outcomes, this role offers the autonomy, visibility, and impact you're looking for.

What You'll Do

  • Own BIM/VDC delivery for mechanical and piping systems from early design through construction.
  • Serve as the lead technical contact for clients, presenting updates and resolving coordination issues.
  • Guide and mentor global project teams, elevating modeling standards and workflows.
  • Develop high-accuracy models using Revit, Navisworks, ACC, and Procore, ensuring constructability and alignment with field conditions.
  • Run and interpret clash detection cycles, delivering actionable results for project teams.
  • Advance internal processes by recommending and piloting new modeling tools and efficiency improvements.
  • Train and support teammates, helping build stronger BIM/VDC capabilities across projects.
  • Collaborate cross-discipline to support broader building systems and integrated project coordination.

Why This Role Matters

Mechanical and piping coordination has a massive impact on constructability, project cost, and installation efficiency. In this role, your decisions shape how major projects come together. You'll directly influence design quality, reduce field issues, and help clients build smarter.

What You'll Gain

  • Deepened expertise in mechanical, piping, and advanced BIM/VDC workflows.
  • Leadership experience managing distributed teams and high-visibility client engagements.
  • Growth opportunities through exposure to new tools, innovative processes, and large-scale projects.
  • A voice in shaping standards that impact VIATechnik's global modeling and coordination operations.

Apply if you have:

  • A bachelor's and/or master's degree in architecture, engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience providing implementation, training, and support in BIM and VDC.
  • 3+ years of experience working for a plumbing and/or mechanical trade contractor.
  • Experience in combining and coordinating BIM updates, running clash detection on revised components and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience modeling, drafting, producing drawings, and reading mechanical and plumbing plans.
  • Capability to work effectively in a self-directed way within an extremely fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an "all-hands-on-deck" approach.
  • Ability to work some early/late hours to coordinate with project teams in other countries.

Compensation and featured benefits:

  • The pay for this position is $90,000– $110,000, and the role is eligible for bonuses. The actual salary offer may be different as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, location, and experience
