We are seeking proven operations professionals to lead the management, operation, and maintenance of municipal water and wastewater systems. Whether you're currently a Project Manager, Utility Manager, Superintendent, Plant Manager, Chief Operator, or Municipal Utilities Director, this role offers the opportunity to lead operations, develop teams, manage client relationships, and drive performance while remaining closely connected to day-to-day field operations.
What You'll Do
As a Project Manager, you'll serve as the operational and business leader for assigned utility contracts, ensuring excellence in service delivery, compliance, financial performance, and team development.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading all aspects of water and wastewater operations, maintenance, and contract management
• Developing and executing operational strategies, goals, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Building, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams
• Managing staffing, hiring, onboarding, training, and employee performance
• Driving business growth through contract renewals, scope expansions, and new opportunities
• Managing project budgets, financial performance, invoicing, and overall profitability
• Serving as the primary liaison with municipal leaders, utility stakeholders, and regulatory agencies
• Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and company policies
• Supporting capital improvement planning and long-term infrastructure initiatives
What We're Looking For
We're seeking leaders who combine strong operational expertise with exceptional people leadership skills.
Preferred Background
• Five or more years of experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, utility operations, or related operations and maintenance environments
• Experience managing teams, projects, facilities, or municipal utility operations
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance, environmental requirements, and operational best practices
• Experience working directly with municipalities, clients, governing boards, or public agencies is highly valued
• Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Licenses & Certifications
• Valid driver's license required
• Prefer candidate to be licensed Water and/or Wastewater Operators in Mississippi or have the ability to obtain appropriate water and/or wastewater certifications based on facility requirements and reciprocity
