This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of Microsoft Fabric, Real-Time Intelligence, Fabric IQ, and Observability experiences by conducting qualitative user research that directly influences product strategy and design decisions. Working closely with product, design, and engineering teams, you will uncover insights into the workflows, challenges, and needs of data professionals while helping improve enterprise analytics and cloud-based data solutions. This position is ideal for a researcher who thrives in technical environments, enjoys translating complex user feedback into actionable recommendations, and wants to make a measurable impact on products used by organizations around the world.

Top Required Skills (Must Haves):

  1. End-to-end qualitative research expertise (7–10 years) including planning and conducting interviews, usability studies, contextual inquiry, and qualitative synthesis to uncover user needs and inform product decisions.
  2. Strong research synthesis and storytelling skills (7–10 years) with the ability to analyze findings, identify themes, and communicate actionable insights through presentations, reports, and stakeholder discussions.
  3. Research operations and execution excellence (7–10 years) including participant recruitment, scheduling, study logistics, documentation management, and maintaining research repositories.
  4. Experience supporting enterprise, technical, cloud, analytics, or data-focused products, with the ability to quickly understand complex technical domains and user workflows.

Opportunity Overview:

This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to some of our client’s most innovative Azure Data initiatives while partnering with teams focused on Real-Time Intelligence, Fabric IQ, and Observability. Researchers in this group play a critical role in helping product teams better understand the needs and behaviors of technical users, including data professionals, analysts, and enterprise customers. The work combines hands-on research execution with meaningful exposure to modern cloud, analytics, and AI-driven technologies, making it an excellent opportunity for researchers seeking to deepen their expertise in enterprise software and data platforms.

How you will make an impact:
• Plan and execute qualitative research studies, including in-depth interviews and usability testing.
• Moderate interviews and research sessions to uncover user workflows, unmet needs, and product experience gaps.
• Conduct qualitative research using methods such as semi-structured interviews, contextual inquiry, and usability studies.
• Support participant recruitment, scheduling, note-taking, and study logistics.
• Analyze research findings and synthesize insights into themes, presentations, reports, and recommendations.
• Maintain organized research documentation, repositories, and supporting materials.
• Support multiple concurrent research projects while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Identify patterns in user feedback and surface insights that inform product and design decisions.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to communicate research findings effectively.
• Ensure research activities comply with privacy, consent, and applicable requirements.

The expertise you bring:
• Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Information Science, Market Research, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4–6+ years of experience in user research, UX research, market research, or a related discipline.
• 7–10 years of experience conducting end-to-end qualitative research.
• Strong experience with interviews, usability testing, surveys, and qualitative synthesis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
• Experience producing clear, well-structured research deliverables and presentations.
• Comfort working within technical product environments and learning complex domains quickly.
• Interest in data, analytics, cloud technologies, and technical user workflows.
• Experience researching enterprise, technical, developer, or data-focused products is strongly preferred.
• Exposure to AI tools and their application within research workflows is a plus.

What makes a candidate highly successful in this role:

Successful candidates bring a strong balance of research depth, operational excellence, and stakeholder influence. They have extensive experience conducting qualitative research from planning through synthesis, demonstrate exceptional communication skills, and consistently deliver clear, actionable insights that help guide product decisions. Experience supporting enterprise software, cloud technologies, analytics platforms, or other technical products is highly valued, particularly when combined with examples of past research studies, portfolios, or presentations that demonstrate measurable impact. Candidates who show curiosity about data professionals, modern analytics workflows, and emerging AI technologies will stand out.
