This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Supervisor to support a variety of munitions response actions and operational range clearance activities. This position is responsible for overseeing field operations, ensuring compliance with applicable Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, and leading multiple UXO teams in the execution of safe and effective remediation and clearance efforts.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive UXO/EOD experience, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage complex field operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Your Impact

  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) Military Service and/or Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB)-approved site plans.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site munitions response activities and operational range clearance projects.
  • Lead and supervise multiple UXO field teams, providing technical guidance and operational oversight.
  • Review and evaluate daily field reports and project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Assess risks associated with the movement of unexploded ordnance (UXO) or discarded military munitions (DMM) within a Munitions Response Site (MRS) or operational range and provide approval for movement when risks are determined to be acceptable.
  • Ensure protective works, equipment, and exclusion zone operations are conducted in accordance with applicable DoD policies, DDESB approvals, and federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and maintain compliance with site-specific health and safety plans.
  • Support project managers and clients through effective communication, scheduling, and operational planning.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Meet the qualifications and perform the functions of a UXO Technician III (UXO-TIII), UXO Quality Control Specialist (UXOQCS), and UXO Safety Officer (UXOSO) as defined in DoD Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18.
  • Minimum 9 years of EOD/UXO experience, including significant experience performing munitions response actions and/or range clearance activities.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience overseeing UXO or related field operations.
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification with annual refreshers.
  • Current 8-Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor Training certification.
  • Demonstrated experience managing an Explosive Safety Program.
  • Strong working knowledge of munitions and explosives of concern (MEC), particularly unexploded ordnance (UXO).
  • Experience implementing and enforcing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to travel and work in remote field environments as project needs require.
  • Due to client requirements, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or federal government UXO remediation projects.
  • Previous experience leading multi-team field operations on large-scale munitions response sites.
  • Strong technical reporting, planning, and client communication skills.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $43.90 - $64.00

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
