The Opportunity
We are hiring a Senior Non-Life Treaty Underwriter for our reinsurance business with primary responsibility for the leadership and development of our P&C portfolio in theNetherlands.
We are looking for experienced candidates who are fluentDutchspeakers, have a strong profile/track recordin these markets, are well networked with key stakeholders and havepreviousportfolio management experience over a minimum period of 5 years.
This is an exciting opportunity offered at a time when QBE Re is expanding its global footprint and diversifying its portfolio mix.

YourNew Role
Support the development of the annual business plan for the portfolio and ensure delivery of the plan
Ensure the team’s awareness of the business plan and its context, to be able to make decisions appropriately
Contribute andparticipatein all meetings,in order toshare and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
Positively promote the department,divisionandcompany as a whole, tomaximize brand leverage
Perform complex underwriting activitiesin accordance withall legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
Adhere to underwriting standards,instructionsand good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
Act as a technical expert to support the identification of issues and opportunities within area of expertise
Establish and strengthen strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, businesspartnersand colleagues, to maximize influence and achieve business objectives
Demonstrate understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycle to drive and enhance business performance
Continually developexpertiseand technical knowledge throughidentifyingand implementingappropriate learningand development activities
Underwrite treaty risks in accordance with the business plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives, including: | negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business | Compliance of production and issue of contract certainty documentation | ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines | ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives | Support credit control in payment collection
Contribute and influence in the review and analysis of the portfolio toidentifyprogress toward business objectives
Ensure entries are properly and promptly recorded on EO systems to ensure accuracy of data, in relation to: | Underwriting | Aggregate exposures
Contribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes to encourage and develop excellence
Manage resources across the team to ensure business requirements are achieved
Motivate and develop the team bydemonstratinggood leadership behaviours and management best practice to support the achievement of business goals
Manage performance fairly and in line with performance processes
Understand actuarial pricing models produced by actuaries and interpret their outputs to support underwriting decisions
Perform some pricing analyses independently using tools and models developed by the actuarial team to ensure technical adequacy and profitability of risks

About You
Demonstrable experience in the reinsurance industry and extensive knowledge of Property and Casualty lines of business.
Ability to prioritize, achieve targets and agreed deadlines.
Strong technicalexpertisein Non-Life Treaty Reinsurance with ability to negotiate complex treaty structures
Stakeholder management at all levels
Strong interpersonal, negotiating and communication skills
Strong attention to detail
People management – ability to engage and lead a team
Dutchand English language skills workingproficiency
