Job Summary

As a member of the Underwriting team, evaluates and underwrites insurance risks within the 10-999 life segment, balancing risk assessment with profitable business growth objectives. Builds and maintains strong relationships with producers, field partners, and internal stakeholders while delivering responsive customer service and underwriting expertise. Applies underwriting guidelines, company procedures, and state regulatory requirements to support sound business decisions. Contributes to departmental initiatives, mentors peers, and supports projects that drive operational excellence and portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and underwrite insurance risks within the 10-999 life market segment, ensuring sound risk selection and profitable business outcomes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with producers, field partners, and internal teams to support business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Apply underwriting policies, procedures, and state regulatory requirements to make accurate and compliant underwriting decisions.
  • Participate in training, knowledge-sharing, and mentoring activities to support team development and strengthen underwriting capabilities.
  • Contribute to departmental projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and achieve organizational goals.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Higher education is preferred.

Experience: 5+ years of relevant underwriting experience.

  • Advanced expertise in analyzing financial, demographic, and risk-related data across diverse case types.
  • Proven experience partnering with multiple departments to evaluate and resolve highly complex underwriting situations.
  • Ability to effectively manage escalations and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to make high-level underwriting decisions and exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop less experienced team members.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

Salary Range:

$76,250.00 - $111,500.00
