About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tunnel Engineer to lead the supervision of tunnel construction works on a major infrastructure project. This opportunity is part of a project currently at the EOI stage, and we are engaging with qualified professionals in preparation for a potential project award. The Senior Tunnel Engineer will report to the Team Leader and Senior Resident Engineer and will be responsible for overseeing all tunnel-related construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise construction activities related to tunnels and underground works
• Review contractor’s method statements, technical submissions, and shop drawings
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and FIDIC (or similar) contract conditions
• Monitor construction progress, quality, and safety for tunnelling works
• Coordinate with geotechnical, structural, and site teams
• Provide technical guidance on tunnelling methodologies and construction practices
• Support reporting and coordination with the Team Leader and Senior Resident Engineer
Key Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• Professionally qualified Civil Engineer
• PE (Professional Engineer) and/or Chartered Engineer (CEng) and/or EUR ING certification (or equivalent professional registration)
• 10+ years of overall experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in tunnel construction or similar infrastructure projects
• Strong experience in construction supervision and contractor coordination
• Familiarity with FIDIC or similar contract conditions preferred
