Senior Transport Planners & Senior Transport Engineers

Our Transport Infrastructure team is looking for Senior Transport Planners and Senior Transportation Engineers to join their business in Auckland and Hamilton. You will work closely with an increasingly diversified range of clients to help visualise and achieve their goals with commitment, integrity and innovation.

We work on some of New Zealand's key infrastructure projects and these roles will provide opportunities for growth and variety.

Contribute towards growing the capacity, capability, skills and reputation of the team to become the leading consultant of choice within New Zealand.

Work collaboratively with the wider Transport teams nationally and internationally to break down barriers and deliver strategic projects. These roles will provide Transport Planning support to projects around the country.

The roles:

  • Develop and lead investment cases and scheme assessments for transport projects in accordance with NZTA or appropriate client procedures.
  • Develop and lead various transportation assessments, investigations, strategy studies, feasibility studies, traffic/transportation modelling, economic evaluation, scheme assessments and other tasks relating to all transportation modes.
  • Manage assigned projects to ensure that all deliverables meet, or exceed, clients’ explicit and implicit needs and expectations.
  • Lead and contribute to project teams to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality. Contribute to ensuring projects achieve the planned profit.
  • Undertake planning of and correctly scope out projects, have appropriate inputs and outputs and verification activities.
  • Undertake administrative tasks associated with assigned projects including reporting on job progress and budget.
  • Undertake verification activities and technical reviews of projects and tasks.
  • Ensure that designs, drawings, strategy development and recommendations will achieve the desired outcomes and that all reports and other outputs are correctly prepared and monitored.
  • Prepare fee estimates and negotiation of fees for services with clients, ensuring that projects can operate on a profitable basis.
  • Engage in business development activities, including meetings and events with clients, under the leadership of company client relationship managers.
  • Liaise with and meet staff from similar WSP transportation teams across New Zealand and across the WSP company globally with a view to supporting them on project work and business development where applicable.

About you:

  • 5+ years’ professional experience within the field of transportation infrastructure, transport engineering and planning.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Proven ability and track record in managing multidisciplinary projects through the full spectrum of the project life cycle and delivering according to quality, time and budget requirements.
  • Proven experience developing business cases and leading project proposals
