We offer a diverse range of roles and development opportunities, so there’s something for everyone here. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your career to the next level, we have the resources and support you need to succeed.

When people think of Severn Trent, they immediately think of water and waste – and that's only natural – it's our bread and butter after all… but you might not realise we have a thriving Transport team who currently repair and maintain a fleet of over 2,900 vehicles! From company cars to water tankers, we ensure that Severn Trent can safely transport equipment, valuable resources, and our teams around safely and efficiently from A to B, day in day out.

We’re looking for a Senior Transport Advisor based out Gloucester to join us on a permanent contract. It’s a brand-new position for our Fleet team so read on to find out how you can shape this role…

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our Maintenance Workshops, internal customers, and Central Fleet teams, ensuring safe and compliant transport operations across the Severn Trent network. Acting as a subject matter expert, you’ll lead on all aspects of goods vehicle compliance, monitoring OCRS scores and driving improvements through effective stakeholder engagement.

You’ll stay ahead of legislative changes, implementing updates in line with DfT and DVSA requirements, while also responding to incidents, carrying out investigations, and providing clear recommendations to senior leaders. As a first point of contact for fleet-related queries, you’ll own complex issues through to resolution and support operational response during weather-related incidents.

As you’ll be visiting sites for audits and meetings, a valid UK driving licence is essential.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

In order to succeed in this role, you’ll bring proven experience in a busy transport or fleet environment within a similar sized organisation. You’ll be confident managing stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment are essential, alongside excellent communication skills.

You’ll also have a strong understanding of transport compliance, DVSA standards, and health & safety regulations, supported by solid IT skills across MS Office.

It would be desirable, but not essential, for you to have experience working within transport, fleet, or compliance environments, alongside strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involve. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?
