What's The Role

The Senior Transport Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, optimization, and maintenance of the company's transport network infrastructure. This includes IP/MPLS, DWDM, Microwave, Metro Ethernet, Optical Transport, Synchronization, and supporting core and access transmission systems that enable the delivery of mobile, fixed, enterprise, and wholesale services.

The role ensures the transport network delivers high availability, resiliency, scalability, and performance while supporting network modernization initiatives, capacity expansion, and business growth objectives.

What You'll Do

Transport Network Operations

  • Manage the operation and performance of optical, microwave, and IP transport networks.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of backbone, aggregation, and access transport infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify capacity, congestion, and availability risks.
  • Drive continuous improvements in network resilience and service delivery.’
  • Support operations and maintenance of Sub-Sea SLTE & PFE transport infrastructure

Network Design & Implementation

  • Design transport solutions to support mobile, fixed, enterprise, and wholesale services.
  • Develop network architecture and engineering standards for transport technologies.
  • Support deployment of DWDM, MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, SDH, Microwave, and synchronization solutions.
  • Prepare engineering designs, implementation plans, low-level designs, and technical documentation.

Capacity Planning & Optimisation

  • Analyze traffic trends and forecast future transport requirements.
  • Develop capacity expansion plans to support growth and technology evolution.
  • Optimize routing, bandwidth utilization, and network redundancy.
  • Ensure transport infrastructure supports current and future service demands.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Act as a senior escalation point for major transport network incidents.
  • Lead troubleshooting and restoration activities during service outages.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
  • Drive improvements in MTTR and restoration effectiveness.

Project Delivery & Network Modernization

  • Support transport network projects from engineering design through implementation and acceptance.
  • Support deployment of new technologies, network upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in technology evaluation & POC initiatives
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to technical specifications.

Knowledgew & Experience

  • A BSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in telecommunications transport, transmission, or IP networking environments.
  • Experience supporting carrier-grade transport and backbone networks.
  • Experience with DWDM, Microwave, MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, and IP backbone technologies.
  • Experience managing large-scale transport projects and network expansion initiatives.
