Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Senior Training and Development Specialist, reporting to the Field Training & Development Manager.
A bit about your role
As the Senior Training and Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in building the capability, confidence, and readiness of nbn’s field workforce and supporting teams. You will lead the development, maintenance, and delivery of technical and induction training programs that equip our people with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to work safely, effectively, and in line with nbn’s technical standards.
In this role, you will design and deliver engaging learning experiences across a variety of formats, supporting Certificate III in Telecommunications and nbn led technical training programs. You will continuously evolve training content to reflect changes in technology, tools, systems, and processes, ensuring our workforce remains prepared for a rapidly changing environment. Through practical facilitation, assessment, coaching, and in-field mentoring, you will help uplift technical capability, embed safe work practices, and drive quality outcomes across the Field Services business.
Working closely with regional leaders, technical experts and capability owners you will foster a collaborative approach to learning and development. You will also apply a continuous improvement mindset to enhance training frameworks, assess readiness for change, and identify innovative ways to make learning more accessible, effective, and impactful.
A bit about you
You are a highly experienced telecommunications professional with broad technical expertise across both network and service delivery environments. You have a strong understanding of the technologies, systems, and field practices that underpin safe and effective operations, and you are passionate about sharing your knowledge to help others succeed. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical, real-world learning experiences enables you to build capability and confidence across diverse workforces.
You are confident facilitating technical training in both classroom and practical field-based environments, using your knowledge and experience to bring learning to life. Whether delivering structured programs, demonstrating hands-on activities, or coaching learners through real-world scenarios, you are comfortable engaging diverse audiences and creating positive learning experiences. You enjoy working as part of a team, collaborating closely with other trainers and subject matter experts to ensure training remains relevant, effective, and aligned to operational needs.
Most importantly, you are motivated by purpose and take pride in creating environments where people feel supported, empowered, and equipped to perform at their best. Your commitment to safety, learning, and continuous improvement will help strengthen nbn’s capability today while preparing our workforce for the future.
