This position is responsible for coordinating international and domestic freight transportation activities supporting outbound shipments from the Dallas / Grand Prairie Distribution Center. Responsibilities include export documentation, air and ocean freight coordination, hazardous materials shipment processing, customer-specific shipping requirements, carrier coordination, transportation compliance activities, and transportation issue resolution.
This position serves as the primary subject matter expert for international transportation operations and hazardous materials shipping requirements. The Senior Traffic Coordinator is the primary owner of international transportation activities for the facility and is responsible for managing the facility's most complex transportation activities including international shipments, dangerous goods shipments, export documentation, OEM customer requirements, and customer specific transportation programs. The position also provides support for domestic transportation activities as required to meet customer and operational needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
International Transportation
- Plan, coordinate, and execute international shipments utilizing approved carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers.
- Coordinate air freight and ocean freight shipments to support customer requirements and business objectives.
- Prepare and maintain export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, export declarations, bills of lading, air waybills, shipping manifests, and related documents.
- Ensure compliance with country-specific shipping requirements, customer-specific documentation requirements, and export regulations.
- Coordinate transportation activities through carrier, freight forwarder, and customer logistics portals.
- Monitor international shipment activity and proactively resolve transportation, documentation, compliance, and service-related issues.
- Work directly with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, customers, and internal departments to support international transportation activities.
Hazardous Materials & Transportation Compliance
- Prepare, review, and process hazardous materials shipments in accordance with DOT (49 CFR), IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, IMDG Code, and company requirements.
- Maintain certifications and training required to support hazardous materials transportation via ground, air, and ocean freight.
- Serve as backup hazardous materials shipping resource for the department.
- Verify shipment classifications, documentation, packaging, marking, labeling, and transportation requirements for dangerous goods shipments.
- Ensure transportation activities are conducted in compliance with customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Customer Support & Transportation Execution
- Coordinate transportation requirements for OEM customers and customer specific transportation programs.
- Schedule carrier pickups, appointments, and transportation services to support customer required ship dates and On-Time Shipment (OTS) objectives.
- Ensure compliance with customer routing guides, ASN requirements, appointment requirements, and transportation instructions.
- Verify shipment weights, dimensions, packaging, labeling, and documentation prior to shipment release.
- Monitor shipment activity and transportation status to identify and resolve service issues and delays.
- Provide domestic transportation support for parcel, LTL, and FTL shipments as required.
Continuous Improvement & Technical Support
- Assist with development and maintenance of transportation procedures, work instructions, and routing documentation.
- Provide training and technical support to transportation personnel as required.
- Support transportation-related continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve service, compliance, productivity, and shipment quality.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate transportation and shipment status reports.
- Support transportation audits, compliance reviews, and corrective action activities.
- Assist with customer transportation inquiries and transportation-related investigations.
- Support special projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Additional projects or assignments as may be identified from time to time.

QualificationsExperience, Skills & Education:
- Minimum three to five years of transportation, logistics, or supply chain experience.
- Thorough knowledge of international transportation operations and export documentation requirements.
- Experience coordinating air freight and ocean freight shipments.
- Strong understanding of export documentation requirements including commercial invoices, certificates of origin, export declarations, bills of lading, air waybills, and hazardous materials documentation.
- Working knowledge of parcel, LTL, and FTL transportation operations.
- Current hazardous materials shipping certification, or ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe following hire, covering applicable DOT, IATA, and IMDG transportation requirements.
- Knowledge of DOT (49 CFR), IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, IMDG Code, and related transportation compliance requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification in accordance with company requirements.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment to support shipment verification, transportation audits, inventory validation, and transportation-related operational activities.
- Experience utilizing K&N Business Management (BMS), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, carrier portals, freight forwarder systems, and customer logistics portals.
