As Specialist Trade Compilance Sr, you will help ensure Donaldson’s import and export activities comply with applicable global trade laws and regulations while partnering cross-functionally to provide regulatory guidance, strengthen compliance processes, and identify opportunities for operational improvement and cost savings.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support global trade compliance activities in accordance with corporate policies, departmental procedures, and applicable import and export laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and continuously improve Global Trade Compliance processes, procedures, and work instructions related to international trade and relevant U.S. and global government agencies, including U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP), BIS, Census, OFAC, FDA, APHIS, ITAR, DEA, USDA, and others.
  • Research import/export requirements and product admissibility across global markets and provide regulatory guidance to GTC Management and Operations.
  • Support the execution of preferential trade programs and trade agreement qualification processes, working closely with customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure the accuracy of critical trade compliance data, including HS classifications, export control classifications, country of origin, licensing requirements, and Other Government Agency (OGA) data.
  • Support the execution of Donaldson’s global trade compliance strategy, standards, and policies across the organization.
  • Partner with Operations, Logistics, Purchasing, Customer Service, Legal, Finance, and other functions to ensure adherence to applicable global import/export regulations.
  • Collaborate on sourcing optimization initiatives and identify potential trade-related cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor customs broker and freight forwarder operations, and support customs broker evaluations during RFQ initiatives.
  • Support external customs audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal compliance audits, helping demonstrate reasonable care across trade compliance activities.
  • Build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and incorporate industry best practices into Donaldson’s global trade compliance program.
  • Support the development and delivery of trade compliance training for employees, vendors, and designated affiliates.
  • Guide international commercial terms and requirements, including INCOTERMS, international sales terms, and import/export documentation.
  • Leverage data, systems, and analytical tools to identify compliance risks, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in International Trade Compliance, import/export compliance, or a related field.
  • Fluent English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of preferential trade agreements and qualification requirements, particularly USMCA.
  • Strong working knowledge of tools and systems such as Excel, SharePoint, Business Intelligence platforms, Oracle, and government trade systems such as VUCEM.

Preferred Qualifications

  • U.S. Customs Broker License.
  • Experience with E2Open Trade Automation or similar global trade management platforms.
  • Experience working within a multinational or global trade compliance organization.
