Senior Automation Test Engineer

Location – Macquarie Park, Sydney

provides a seamless, convenient and customer-focused finance service to consumers and businesses.

We are seeking a Senior Automation Test Engineer to play a critical role in Allied Credit’s testing
practice, working under the Test Practice Manager to lead automation strategy, framework design, and delivery. This role is hands-on, combining advanced technical expertise with mentoring responsibility for other Test Engineers.

This person will architect and maintain scalable automation frameworks, integrate automation
into CI/CD pipelines, and coach the team to uplift automation maturity. They will also work closely with stakeholders across Technology Solutions to ensure test automation is embedded effectively throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

What you will be doing

• Designing, delivering and driving the group-wide automation test strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and consistent adoption across all business units.
• Being held accountable for the consistent execution, monitoring and reporting of automated tests and results, providing visibility of coverage, reliability and quality outcomes.
• Leading design, development and maintenance of scalable automation frameworks using Cypress.
• Integrating automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines to provide rapid and reliable feedback.
• Translating requirements into robust, reusable automated test scripts for UI, API and integration testing.
• Advocating for quality and automation across the software development lifecycle, working closely with developers, BAs and stakeholders.
• Identifying opportunities to increase automation coverage, reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
• Analysing test failures, log defects, and collaborate with developers to ensure timely resolution.
• Supporting and coordinating Testing activities across IT and the business as required, providing leadership and mentoring to less experienced colleagues.

Your background

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent industry qualification, alongside an ISTQB certification or equivalent being highly desirable.
• Proven success in software quality assurance with solid experience in automation-focused roles.
• Proven experience architecting and scaling automation frameworks (Cypress required, Power Automate desirable).
• Experience working with Azure DevOps preferred.
• Experience in the Banking & Finance industry preferred, exposure to working to an Agile methodology required.
• Proficiency in Cypress and at least one programming/scripting language (TypeScript, JavaScript, or C#).
• Knowledge of RESTful API testing and tools (e.g. Postman) desirable.
• Strong defect analysis, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), with ability to coach others and explain technical concepts.
