The Opportunity

The HVDC Service Tendering Specialist role focuses on developing, managing, and executing high-quality and competitive bids for the HVDC Service portfolio. The role involves leading end-to-end tendering activities across aftermarket service offerings such as Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSAs), spare parts management, emergency services, preventative maintenance, control system upgrades, and retrofit solutions. The position bridges technical expertise and commercial strategy by applying structured tendering methodologies to analyze customer requirements, define technical solutions, optimize profitability, and mitigate risks. It also includes preparing detailed documentation such as technical proposals, commercial offers, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), cost estimations, and risk assessments to support business growth, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and long-term service reliability.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Lead end-to-end preparation of technical, commercial, and financial proposals for HVDC service tenders and LTSAs in the India region.

  • Analyze customer tenders, RFPs, and technical specifications to identify requirements, deviations, and strategic opportunities.

  • Develop and structure Service Level Agreements (SLAs), including KPIs, response times, and availability guarantees for long-term contracts.

  • Align technical proposals with HVDC systems including Converter Transformers, Valve Cooling Systems, and Control & Protection (C&P) architectures.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define scope for upgrades, retrofits, lifecycle extensions, and system modernizations.

  • Coordinate with supply chain, factories, and vendors to estimate costs for materials, tools, and site services.

  • Perform detailed costing, margin analysis, and cash flow planning to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

  • Identify technical, operational, and commercial risks, and develop mitigation strategies for tender submissions.

  • Prepare and present tenders during internal gate reviews, ensuring compliance and alignment with business strategy.

  • Review and negotiate commercial terms & conditions, including payment terms, liabilities, liquidated damages, and price adjustments.

  • Lead customer clarification meetings with utilities, TSOs, and industrial clients to resolve technical and commercial queries.

  • Translate complex technical solutions into clear customer value propositions, emphasizing reliability, uptime, and lifecycle optimization.

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of tenders, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

  • Contribute to business growth by improving win rates, margin accuracy, and customer engagement.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.

  • 10–12 years of experience in tendering, proposal management, or project engineering within the power sector.

  • Strong experience in high-voltage systems such as HVDC, FACTS, GIS, or large-scale substations.

  • Proven expertise in service contracts, maintenance tenders, and brownfield or upgrade project proposals.

  • Deep understanding of power systems, substation environments, and high-voltage transmission technologies.

  • Strong financial acumen including project costing, margin analysis, and multi-year contract evaluation.

  • Proficiency in ERP tools such as SAP and experience with tendering portals and document management tools.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously under tight timelines while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capability, and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
