Based in Adelaide and part of GHD’s national Security & Communications Systems service line, our SA & NT Security and Communications Team is a recognised centre of capability, delivering specialist security and communications consulting services across some of Australia’s most significant Defence, critical infrastructure, aviation, electrical / water utilities and transport projects.

We are looking for an accomplished, client-focused and collaborative Senior Telecommunications Engineer to join our SA & NT region. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and specialist expertise across complex communications and technology projects, collaborating with clients to solve challenges in complex fibre, radio/RF communication systems, smart buildings, critical infrastructure and datacentres. You will play a key role in shaping technical solutions, leading project delivery, mentoring team members, and contributing to the continued growth of our Security and Communications business.

Working with our high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Lead the planning, design and delivery of complex ICT and communications solutions, including IP networks, Wi-Fi, radio communications, audio-visual systems and integrated technology platforms.
  • Support the interfacing of Building Management Systems, energy monitoring systems, security alarm systems, CCTV and other ELV services.
  • Provide technical leadership and specialist advice across the full project lifecycle, from concept development and business case preparation through to detailed design, construction and commissioning.
  • Develop and review technical documentation, specifications and designs, ensuring high-quality, innovative and fit-for-purpose project outcomes.
  • Lead technology contributions on major multidisciplinary Defence, Transport, Infrastructure and Property & Buildings projects – including managing scope, budgets, schedules and project risks.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and contributing to strategic stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Support business growth through opportunity identification, proposal development, major pursuits and collaboration with regional and national teams.
  • Mentor and develop emerging professionals, fostering technical excellence, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team.

What would you bring to the team?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, majoring in Electronics, Computer Systems, Telecommunications, Communications Systems or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years' experience delivering telecommunications and ICT solutions within the built environment, infrastructure, Defence, intelligent transport systems or related sectors.
  • Hold an Australian Government Defence security clearance or be eligible to apply for clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of intricate communications and technology projects.
  • Defence, critical infrastructure, campus, transport/intelligent transport systems and/or datacentre experience will be highly regarded.
  • Proven consulting experience, including client engagement, technical leadership and project delivery responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary telecommunications technologies, ICT systems, industry standards and installation practices.
  • Construction on site experience.
  • Working knowledge of technical drawing concepts and applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, QGIS.
  • Experience managing project budgets, resources and stakeholder expectations.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
  • Proactive, professional and commercially minded approach with a focus on delivering exceptional client outcomes.
