Job Description

Cleveland Metroparks is seeking a Senior Technician at Seneca Golf Course to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of its golf courses. This position is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled work in golf course maintenance, ensuring optimal playing conditions and overall course aesthetics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs skilled work on golf course irrigation and drainage systems.
• Conducts routine golf course maintenance, including cutting cups, raking bunkers, and mowing greens, tees, and fairways, while exercising independent judgment.
• Assists with the maintenance and repair of turf equipment, including golf carts, triplex mowers, fairway mowers, utility carts, and rough mowers.
• Grinds and sets up reels for fairway, greens, and tee mowers.
• Demonstrates technical proficiency in handling and applying pesticides and fertilizers, ensuring proper calibration of sprayers and spreaders.
• Operates and maintains golf course equipment such as greens mowers, rollers, tractors, topdressers, and spreaders.
• Trains team members on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Provides work direction and assigns tasks to team members, as needed.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, & Certifications: Associate’s degree in turfgrass science or related experience required. Possess or obtain an Ohio Pesticide Applicator’s License (category 8 – turf pests endorsement preferred) within the first 6 months of employment. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of turf maintenance practices and golf etiquette.
• Experience in basic maintenance and repair of golf turf equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to exhibit leadership consistent with teamwork approach that recognizes the contribution of all employees.
• Stays current with new production methods, techniques, and materials to enhance golf course maintenance practices.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Starts at $32.63/hr with a $0.50/hr increase every 6 months until reaching the base rate of $34.13/hour
