This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.
In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including system guides, SOPs, user manuals, and operational procedures.
Create and maintain documentation supporting DevSecOps pipelines, system architecture, and software lifecycle processes
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation
Collaborate with engineers, developers, cybersecurity teams, and product owners to gather and validate technical content.
Support development of training materials, onboarding guides, and knowledge base content
Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, and aligned with program standards and requirements.
Maintain documentation repositories and ensure content is properly organized and accessible.
Support version control and updates to documentation as systems and processes evolve.
Ensure compliance with formatting, accessibility (e.g., Section 508), and documentation standards.
Participate in reviews and quality assurance of technical deliverables and documentation artifacts.
Support audit readiness by maintaining complete and traceable documentation sets.
Assist in developing templates, style guides, and documentation best practices.
Participate in SAFe ceremonies as needed to align documentation with Agile delivery cycles.
Basic Qualifications:
Active Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, Information Systems, or related discipline and 8–12 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 6–10 years of relevant experience.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in technical writing or a related field.
Experience developing technical documentation in IT, software, or engineering environments
Experience working with documentation tools (e.g., MS Word, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar platforms).
Experience translating technical information into user-focused documentation.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and customer relationship management.
Ability to design and maintain online training materials and knowledge management systems.
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Experience working in cross-functional, technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI clearance.
Experience supporting DoD or Federal programs.
Experience documenting data platforms, analytics tools, or AI/ML systems
Experience supporting DevSecOps, cloud, or system engineering environments.
Familiarity with knowledge management systems and content management platforms.
Experience with documentation standards and accessibility compliance (e.g., Section 508).
Relevant certifications in technical writing or communications.
Experience with cloud-based data and analytics systems.
Experience with content management systems (CMS).
Familiarity with AI capabilities for knowledge management.

Pay Range $82,550.00 - $149,225.00
